This thread is Great!
In the early 90s, as kids, one of my still-best-friends and I used to do a lot of air rifle shooting together..
His dad decided to take us out, and teach us to 'hunt'. Ohhh what comedy that was. haha
After hours and hours in the woods, and not really seeing much of anything, we packed up and headed home..
On the way, we stopped at a somewhat local state-park.. When you drive in, there's a huge building,
huge kiddie pool, and some other random things.. One thing ya can't miss is the ginormous tree front and center..
Dad says 'alright boys', get your guns!
Luke and I look at each other like... OKAY?! and eventually end up seeing a squirrel...
Of course, it ran up that huge tree. We shot it a few times, but, it because stuck in a 'v' between a few branches..
Not wanting to go home empty handed, Dad stepped in and saved the day..
I Will Never Forget This!
He went to the trunk, and grabbed his 410/22 over-under, loaded a 410 round, and *KaBlam*
Blew the squirl outa' the tree! Hahahaha
We took it home, and he preceeded to show us the do's and don'ts of prepping it / cooking it, etc.
The other thing I'll never forget.. Him saying don't even puncture this part..
Then Luke and I proceeding to stab it with a knife - and the immediate Stink. lol
Anyways, a little butter, salt, pepper, some other random thing
for seasoning..
That squirrel meat was actually pretty damn good! I remember really enjoying it!
I hate chicken, so it had to be way better than that. Closer to rabbit if I remember right.
