Crosman I Took The C9a Out

I rebuilt the C9a valve and replaced the cup about 6 months ago and it shot well after the rebuild.
It even gained a few FPS.
A lot of talk recently about pumpers so I thought I would shoot a couple in mine.
I turned 80 earlier this month so just a few pumps for some target work, sitting in the garage.
No bench, though…offhand.
I stored the rifle with the required two pumps and before starting the session, I dry fired it.
It sounded real strong.

Got to love these, lifetime of fun.

Strange thing but I am finding that my Crosman 140, both 392s including the Steroid prefer Gamo Redfire pellets. At 10 yards sight in distance my groups look like Frank's with CPHP of any vintage. Redfires make a single hole. The Redfires shoot groups like those but at 20 yards, not 10. I am doing 8 pumps. I do usually shoot for sight in from a rest, bag, bipod or Stinger rest. I have a 2X scope on the 392s and set the scope on the 140 to 3X.

Note to self, never purchase a black backer board again. I simply cannot see anything and I was pretty much guessing where the cross hairs were. Did not help for sure. My range is set up for 20/25/50/100 yards, the 10 yards was temporary using a old rusted lawn chair, red neck engineering ;).

I have been told that the rear sight mount on these rifles pinched under the barrel and could break the solder joint. I never believed that until I saw one at a gun show broken right there and lifted up. I have since removed them from my two 392 rifles.

Nice walnut waves, like the front sight is it a permanent set up?
It's been so long... I think that's a modified Diana 45 sight epoxied to one side of a modified scope mount that were sold for Benj./Sheridans. Yes, it is removable. Look close and you can see a groove in the barrel where I originally had cut into it to accept a globe. Probably done in the 80's. How time flies.
