I think I found the right slug

OK, so it's only 25 yards... but check out this group.
Thats 3 shots using a 340 grain Lee Precision slug. 3Kpsi out of my .457 Cothran rifle.

If I had a chance to level on a squirrel, you better know I'd take it. Not too many of them here in Las Vegas though.
OK, here goes: The gun is made from all Cothran parts. Long, long airtube...33 inches. It has a TJ barrel 32 inches. And of course uses Don's 45 valve, fill port and inline cocker. I had it tethered for those shots, only running 3000 psi. Normally I take that up to 3500 psi un-tethered. There it makes a tad over 400 lbft of energy with that slug. The slugs are sized to .458".

Had it out again today at 50 yards. Windy as a mother-in-law. So groups were spread a bit. Still think it will turn in cloverleafs at that range. Sorry no pics this time....not worth looking at.
Chris
Shouldn't it be windy as a politician? You know the one's, (one's he'll, all) all they're good for is sail boat fuel.

Wow super impressed with your build!!!! How is the trigger on your 45? How does the to barrel clean up? I just finally learned in life how to properly lead lap a barrel!!! Its not too hard. I will probably hand lap all my future airgun barrels. Used to good barrels. TheTJ barrels seem to have a pretty good reputation. They are standard production barrels right ? No hand lapping? Sorry for so many questions....

Hi Reed
The "lower" or grip/action is a P-rod lower, so the trigger is very good. I have no guage to quantify that, but trust me. I did nothing to lap the barrel. I do all my own barrel work though, and it's right by me. Seems to clean up well. I have found TJ barrels to be pretty spot on to the advertized dimensions. Yup, standard production, just send an email and they'll invoice you and send the barrel. It is JUST the barrel, you must cut it to fit your gun. In any event. I did slug it and acquire a sizing die .001" or so larger than that size...don't remember what that was just now. I've done rifles just like this one in .308 and .357 as well. and those barrels were the same. The .308 is a beast, making like 175 lbft of energy with a 135 grain slug.

Love this stuff...can you tell?
