I own 1 of the 1st .177 Discovery ever made

The way I know is it has a gland for an O-ring inside of valve housing that surrounds the valve stem. What I’ve been told by several people including Rick Wellknicker is it’s one of the first thousand. Walnut stock also. I thought it was weird schematics didn’t show the O-ring.

So, I’m wondering how much more flow I’d get if O-ring was removed. Enough for say 21 grain slugs?

I have the 3 upgraded valve screws, Air Magnum power adjuster via preload & quick spring change, brass trigger & 3 screw mod. I’ve whacked Crows at a known 110 yards with 10.5 Crosmans. Went right through. So I’m really wondering if removing that rare valve stem ring would increase flow when desired significantly.

I do wish to put a custom 26-28” barrel on her also.

When you say wack crows at 110 yards with 10.5 Kia?what is The fps leaving the barrel? Did not think a 177 at that range would have enough energy to kill a crow. I have a few 177 pcps that I never shot anything beyond 60 yards. Always thought with the wind it would blow the pellet around. Going to have to setup a target @ 100 to see what kind of grouping I can get

Well this isn’t an impromptu shot. That pole is a laser ranged 110. Being high up, and I’m down the hill from it, I have less drop than a straight shot out.

It can push 10.5’s over 1000fps. Now that I think about that one, I believe I used a 13.43 JSB Monster zeroed @ at 75 yards & going around 900-920 fps, rested on hood of car. Held my estimated 6-8” over its head. There was no wind. Mid day Summer. Lots of days with no wind here early morning, mid day 12-3 & late at night with spot/flood lights behind me on target for groups. It really was a heck of a luck shot as it landed directly in the center of chest & blasted right through. He dropped end

over end DRT. Straight through the heart.

I’d say my set up is maxed at that range for birds. Paper can go out further though I haven’t tried .177 further. When I shoot .22 18.1’s out in the field at stalks that are sticking out of snow, I come darn close out at 150-175 yards but they have NO power left. I can literally find them in the snow & see there’s no damage. .25 caliber JSB 25.43 & especially 33.95 or slugs of .253 in the 35-60 grain range can easily keep 3-6” groups on windless days out to 200 yards.

Some .177’s are pushing 32 ft lbs with 16 grain Eun Jin’s. I’d like to try sized slugs. Wish I had a set up like that .17HMaiR Cedric had Doug Noble build. That’s making over 50 ft lbs with a 1:9 twist .172 slug barrel.

I’ll add a picture come sunrise.
