I need to get a Scba tank now. Best deal on the largest new? Thanks

all 3 brands are good. comes down to valving system and length of hose. 1 air venturi , approx 18" hose pyramid air and can be put on affirm monthly payments. 2 omega which is carried by airguns of arizona has a 36" hose attachment these 2 run about $700 i believe. and then there is 3 - great white. expert HPA carries this tank - it comes with best valving system which includes 2nd gage to display tank pressure. a control release flow to prevent over pressurizing you guns cylinder- Great for pistols especially with their tiny tanks, and a package of protective netting , plastic stands for stability on it's side and a boot for the bottom to stabilize tank when upright. cost? $900. the air venturi and omega tanks need the harness and stand extra and airhog supplies this for $75 no netting or bottom boot.

your best deal is to grab a 1-2 year old tank off the forum for about $600-650 when they come up.

I highly recommend the Great White noted above. The slow fill valve aids safety, even though it isn't absolutely necessary if one is careful. The protection/carry system is excellent but that can also be done in cheaper ways. The second gauge showing tank pressure is nice-you always know what pressure is in the tank. Cheaper is possible. All relative.

I too recommend Joe Brancatto’s Great White with full package. Slow fill with 36” hose, second gauge for inside tank pressure is what all tanks should have and body armor with feet that you can stand or lay flat.

I am in no rush however, should I not worry about all that pressure in a tank produced in China?

No more than one produced anywhere else. The only thing that you should be aware of is that if you are not filling it yourself it will need to be DOT certified. Some of the Chinese ones are, but they are more expensive even though they are exactly the same. If you are in no rush to get one, do some more research and weigh up what is best for your budget.

When you're dealing with HPA, it's always a concern. Don't cheap out. There's a reason why there's a DOT certification and air tanks have to pass stringent test. In regards to Joe B's customer service, I've never had to use it. Never really heard anything bad though. The second gauge comes in handy otherwise, you would have to connect a dead head to check the internal pressure. Everytime you do that, you waste air from bleeding the line if that's a concern to you.

I went two ways purchasing my first tanks last year. There are a few guys out on Ebay selling used SCBA tanks near the end of their 15 year life. Other forum members have gone the Ebay route. I bought an 2006 MSA 30 minute tank for $135.99. The tank was at the end of it's 5 year hydro so it cost me another $50 to have it inspected and hydro tested. The fire equipment dealer said the tank was in great shape. A fill adapter was added for $39. I had the tank filled at a local scuba shop to 3000psi and topped it off to 4500psi at home with my Yong Heng. To cut down how often my fill rig had to be setup, I decided to get a second tank.

I bought an Acecare 9L with main valve and fill adapter for $247.16 including shipping through www.pcpmall.com last year. This site was recommended by another forum member. That website is down when I checked this morning but it was a direct purchase from Acecare. It was not a DOT certified tank. My tank was stopped in customs and UPS asked me to fill out DOT paperwork. I told them the tank was not DOT certified and it was for paintball. It passed through without the paperwork and no extra fees. I believe at least one forum member did purchase a DOT certified tank from them and he had to pay a fee.

How is the customer service with Joe B?

And is a second gauge nessicary?

Thanks.

Joe B. makes sure the customer is satisfied. The second gauge for the inside pressure lets you know at all times the remaining pressure in the tank...otherwise like others said you have to use a dead head plug to check the pressure....makes it much quicker and simpler to know ones pressures. The slow fill is safer for the most part.
