I need a solution for dragging things around

With a red-dot no problemo fits just perfectly...

but not this 10-50x60 scope, as mounted...

Either I need a bigger case for the setup with a sniper scope mounted or a separate case for a scope only which creates an extra thing to take care of at the range.

Or leave the original plastic case for home storage only?

Not sure how much I can trust a soft-padded case with my FX skeleton gun...

This is too tight...and this is only a 700 barrel but I was tinkering to go 800

Don't think I'd like a separate case for the scope since that creates one more thing to lug to the range and then having to unmount and then remount the scope. Seems like you're in the market for a larger case that can accommodate everything.

I like pelican cases since I travel on planes with my guns and the baggage handlers are rough. Pelican cases are indestructible. If you're the only one handling the case and are traveling by car a larger version of the Plano type case you're already using might be your solution. Here's a link to the various sizes of Pelican cases available:

If a larger Plano would work here's a link:

One more thought. You probably know this but....gun cases are for transporting your fine weapons they're not for storage. Gun cases, especially hard cases trap moisture/condensation and even with desiccants can promote rust.

Yes I know open foam attracts moisture. This in my picture above is a closed cell foam, similar grit as the original was in the case. I got a large sheet 4x9 ft last year by mistake (I thaught I ordered a small square piece) from an online order at some packaging supplier, realised only at a time of a pickup. The price was a steal so this how ended up keeping it and turned out just a right density. Harder than a foam but softer than a styrofoam and you can cut it easier.
