I missed a world record size gray squirrel at 30 yards with my Impact Question advice for poi shift

OK so I been shooting my impact mk2 and decided to try out the 700mm barrel from my spare ,22 FX Maverick barrel I had in my draw so as most know I did have to remove the outer shroud and I put a donny on it and sighted her in , well I had it set up where I could hit spinners 1 inch # 109 yards and had it sighted in at 50 yards , well , I walked down stairs and forgot my magazines in house so I put gun against shed when I came out it was on ground no big deal ,

SO walking out back of pond I see a Gray squirrel on steroids I mean huge he was only 30 yards away , I was carrying my impact and what I went in back I put it on my tripod so I stopped and aimed remember on tripod and shot he Laughed at me and ran off , I was like WTF .

I then went back to my medal spinner targets and see what happened , I shot at my 1 inch spinner and missed I shot at biggest medal target and it hit it 3 inches hi and 1 inch to right , I was like GRRRR ,
OK now for my question will barrel stiffener prevent this ? I previously usually run a 500mm with carbon fiber glued to liner and have not say this much poi shift ever if bumped >>>>?? and I know I have no outer shroud and this is needed for tension er I can get one but would of it still happened > this is why I like running shorter Fx barrels the shorter the less prone to poi shifts .

To prevent POI changes due to barrel movements during storage, I rest all of my airguns nearly vertical and leaned over resting on the scope. This doesn't put but only a few ounces of pressure on the scope and the barrels float in mid air not touching anything. With my FX Impact I also noticed that the hard foam case will creat a shift if cased for extended periods due to pressure on the barrel. The o-rings in the barrel and blocks are too soft, and allow for squishing and creating "memory". A harder and less squishy o-ring like these from theoringstore.com "EU Polyether Urethane 90 Duro O-Ring" are a better alternative in those liners and blocks.

I never had much issues with my 700mm m3. Storage and moving around was the only time I had the potential to smack something off.

I have added a tensioned barrel and the TRS rail.. and now... The barrel is STIFF STIFF. But now that it's stiff... lronically.. I find the accuracy nodes are harder to find when tuning

I sold all my fx airguns because of this problem There is no reason to pay a lot on money for a air gun than half to put more money in it to make it consistent
AGT OR RTI out of the box no problems at all…. My two cents
Hmm. Guess consider yourself lucky. My prophet wouldn’t hold zero to save its life. Its reg also crept more than any other gun I’ve ever owned. Never had an issue with ALL my FX guns though.
I no longer own a prophet. I still own my FX’s

Most of the time in hunting the shooter is not zeroed! You can hit spinners all day,but when shooting a living thing your reactions change, most of the time you do not even know it.... excitement and you go off sooner than you thought, diligence is needed...plus you have to realize that your temperament changes without you even knowing it...no excuse,it was you :ROFLMAO:

He shot at a spinner afterwards and was 3 inches high and 1 inch right. It was not him, it was the gun. But I know what you’re saying. I’ve blown it plenty of times on live targets and really wanted to blame the gun. A test shot confirmed I was at fault. Not the case with the dude who started this topic.

My guess, it was the squirrel. They are devious little rodents.
He probably snuck around your back and gave your elevation and windage turrets a nudge, then ran ahead of you to taunt you into taking a shot.
The little bugger might have even done some quick calculations and set you up for your shot to knock loose an acorn that had been previously out of his reach.
As I said, they are devious little fur balls!🐿️

Or maybe you just bumped it on something and knocked your scope out of alignment. It does happen. Zero it again and better luck next time.

Don’t discount the possibility that it was the scope that bumped off zero.
I would shoot it some more before I spent a bunch of money on stiffening your barrel.
As others have noted, consider a shorter barrel before you go all in down the rabbit hole. Unless you are set on heavy slugs at high speeds you may be better served with a shorter barrel
