I made a mistake I bought a Diana 34 T06

not a Diana 54 my memory is worse than I thought but I am really impressed with the gun so far and have a 3-9 X 40 UTG scope on it and shot 40 to 50 pellets through it today and I think I made a good choice.

it is a 177 and was shooting some cross man premier 7.9 in it and I'm improving but need more practice

i think that this gun will be a tack driver I will try some more different pellets in it.

You are going to enjoy that mistake. Lighter, very accurate, just the right power level for medium range hunting, quiet enough for the back yard. =)

Get yourself three or four tins of the same middle weight pellet in different head diameters. Shoot a set of groups with each size on this target:

After you have done that, you will have an idea which pellet head size your rifle prefers.

Spook where do I find head diameters? I thought they all were same diameter just different weights and types or shapes. Thanks for your help spook.

Pyramid air has H&N field target trophy and barracuda in different head sizes...but I've had a couple 34s in the past and both were not pellet picky...they shot a bunch of different pellets well...had really good luck with RWS super domes too!

My .22cal 34 likes the Superdomes as well. One of the few airguns I've owned that liked them. So far though the 5.54mm head H&N FTT seem to give the best accuracy. The odd thing with the H&N's is dispite the large head I'm only getting 680-690 fps out of them. That is with weighed pellets at 14.7 gr. With a weighed 14.7 gr Superdome pellet velocity is up to 725 fps. The larger diameter skirt of the Superdome is the reason for the increased velocity.

Thanks guys I will get an assortment to try .

i put maybe 50 or more rounds through it and after about 20 rounds and getting scope dialed in good darn scope mount came loose dang gun is hard on scopes and mounts but after tightening everything up good I got it shooting good again I'm going to like this gun for sure if I can keep my scope tight and working.

So when you tighten the screws down don't strip them and put a tiny bit of blue loktite on them so they don't back out again. Leave that overnight before shooting. On my new guns I pretty much always get everything set up and in place. Then I shoot it till things loosen up and then I loctite the screws on the second go.
