i was smiling along with you!!!... im a big proponent of the .20 myself. i have a few .20 guns hw97,hw30,R-10,Rx1 plus 3 sheridansYes, the main challenge of long range (75-yards) shooting with the HW30 .20 cal, is dealing with the trajectory. When zeroed for 30 yards it is about thirty inches low at 75. My scope doesn't have that kind of range. So to get it done I used the scopes bottom mil dot. Then did some testing to dial in my elevation using the scopes zoom. I found that at about 4.5 X the bottom mil dots was zeroed for elevation.
Then my next challenge was overcoming scope cant. You get a real clear understanding of the importance of cant when you look up at the X and know that pellet is going to fall from there all the way down to your aim point.
The .20cal pellets hit alot harder than .177s. The HW30 can flip crazy eight paddles at 75y, but my Beeman Webly Vulcan .177 can't it only wiggles them, and it's a stronger gun than the HW30 .177.
Here is the whole video if you interested.
Thanks
FWIW. I’ve had several of each 95/R9, 98/R1 in .20 caliber over many decades. The 95/R9 is the better gun for .20. IMHOi was smiling along with you!!!... im a big proponent of the .20 myself. i have a few .20 guns hw97,hw30,R-10,Rx1 plus 3 sheridans
im looking into a R9 in 20. OR HW98 IN 20. Im leaning towards the hw98.. great video and I can relate to the simply joy in it!!!
most all of my shooting / hunting is with wadcutters brains just splatter with the impact of a wadcutter .What surprised me most was how well the wadcutters performed at 25 yards. I guess I just assumed they were best at 10 meters. I used the H&N Finale Match Heavy and the H&N Excite Econ II for the first time in the HW30; mostly as an after thought. Turns out they both outshot all the other pellets. I haven’t measured those groups yet but they are very small for a springer at 25 yards.

Its close in accuracy but the 97K has it there.FWIW. I’ve had several of each 95/R9, 98/R1 in .20 caliber over many decades. The 95/R9 is the better gun for .20. IMHO
I couldn’t get my wife on board for that one for some reason?I really like the AOA walnut HW30.
Shooting the 20 cal HW30 at 75-yards is like lobbing mud balls, so I wasn't going to bother mounting correcting negative moa rings, but I can still shoot at 75 by using the bottom mildot at a zoom of 4.5 X.I was wondering where you had zeroed the gun, LOL. Since I plan to use the stock open sights, I'll be shooting at much closer distances anyway.
Exactly!Whatever marksmanship I developed largely came from my youth with a Sheridan. So, I have procured a number of .20 over the years. These are HW97s, HW30, HW95s and an extra barrel for my HW90s.
Compared to .177 and .22, all of these have been less pellet picky and by and large, easier to achieve fine accuracy. We don't have many pellets to choose from, but all seem to work very well in each of these rifles over a surprising range of muzzle velocity.
I would very much like a .20 wadcutter.
It is similar to a wadcutter that is why mentioned it.Thank you! I just ran some poly mags through a HW95 .20 luxus and got standard deviations of 2 on 10shots. But it also gave the same numbers with 13.73gr Exacts.
