I Love Brown Santa - Athlon Helos BTR 6-24X50 Mil/Mil

Iust opened box for the new Athlon Helos BTR FFP 6-24x50mm. Wow! The new locking turrets and the move of the IR control to the side parallax is nice. The turrets are more tactile and positive stops and about 1/2 inch taller than the Argos BTR. CLICK CLICK!! All the points of finger contact, turrets, parallax, and zoom are much nicer and easier to grip with more tactile ridges/interface. The cattail on the zoom ring more pronounced and grippy. Same APMR FFP reticle as the Argos which I like better than APLR (too busy with .2 mil subtensions).

Have not mounted it up yet, still waiting on FedEx truck today for the rifle to arrive.

comes with decent plastic flip caps, same as Argos BTR. For Butler Creek fans, takes a size 40 for objective and size 20 Eye. Same as Argos BTR.

"Mick-VA"Update: Rifle, rings, and level arrived today. Helos mounted, leveled, and zero'd. Observations from initial impressions still stand. The glass is a little better than Argos of same mag and equal to Midas glass. Very crisp and clear. For me, it's these new turrets and glass that make Helos shine.
Why not get the 8-34x version? I think it has a bigger objective lense too at 54mm. It's 20$ more. Just wondering. I'm thinking about upgrading from the Argos. Is it worth the 200$? Wish it had the zero lock but no biggie I guess.

I'm thinking of trying this scope out over in the UK my main scope is a Kahles which is one hell of a scope for air rifles and powder burners but rather expensive. I've had the usual Hawk Side winders and the Airmax range but for me the glass is not that great.

How is the Paralax adjustment on them is it smoth or rough and does it come with a Side wheel included I'm after a new scope as I've just ordered a HW100 in Laminate not a rifle I'd normaly have I'm mainly a Daystate man through and through I've thought about a RAW rifle which by the look of them are one hell of a rifle but sadly the exchange rate is rather bad in the uk one of the lads at my local range has one and it dammed good not cheap mind not cheap at all.

i have a draw full of unused scope I advertised some of them for sale and sadly got scammed rather badly by a gentalman from Canada so have give up on selling on line. I've watched all the good reviews on the Athlon scopes and am impressed from what I've read.

one thing that bugs me is that we in the UKncan note buy scopes from the US due to the laws about high powered scopesand there export.

my lad spent three months last year teaching at one of the summer camps and loved it he bought a couple of mid line scopes for his old man sadly when boarding his flight home he was dragged of the plane and given the third degree not pleasant at all. Thankfully his military IDmsabed the day along with him telling the border guys that they for hi dad who was blown up in Iraq so they let him throug.
