Let me first apologize for posting about a lowly .177 Marauder. (I know, gag! borrrr-ing.) But I am impressed with the Marauder BP conversion by Vit the Craftsman and have wanted a Mrod BP since the BP craze started. The main purpose for me doing one of these is to have a BP to shoot 10 Meter steel silhouette. The greatest number of 40/40 matches I’ve won was shooting either a AA Galahad and an Mrodair P12 detuned’ both which were purchased by guys I shoot with. (sorry, skill sold separately) The guns’ weight is more rearward now improving balance but making it a bit more “wiggly” at the muzzle. I may have to inlay weight in the forestock to improve stability but having not shot it in this configuration, I’ll just have to see.

For the new guys with a marauder who have been considering doing a conversion (even some of you closet Marauder owners, you know who you are...) but are uncertain about the quality and fit and finish I’d have to give it an 8 out of 10. The preassembled linkage and their components are excellent and bolted right up. The finish of the stock is excellent too. An adjustable butt pad would have been another plus point and instructions on fine tuning adjustments for the trigger linkage would also be a plus. However, unless you’re a trigger snob like me, you will never notice.

@bigragu- no mods per se’. It’s a .177 so no reg needed. I “tuned” the trigger to my liking. I adjusted the velocity screw to just over 1/2 turn out to get the speed down to 600 fps (about 8fpe) no adjustments to the hammer tension or throw. 3000 fill nets well over 100 shots. 

Pre-bull pup stock, I set it up for a friends’ wife to shoot hunter FT, who, had never shot FT before. She won her first hunter FT, out shooting all 12 entries including her husband who has FT experience and me, who owns and set up the gun.

I honestly don’t recall the VS setting for FT but I found the groups really tightened up at 875 with JSB 10.34. I didn’t change the HS or the HT for FT. She was able to get over 60 shots with out a fill starting at 3000psi.

Dave I have the 25 cal in a maddog bp stock but need to do my 22 cal . That scope rail looks dove tail can it be ordered with a picatinny rail or changed out ? Also what about the safety in front of the trigger ? Thanks for posting have been thinking about that stock for some time .Sure changes the looks I like it a lot Thanks in advance Darell

We (a shooting buddy of mine did the same thing) consider several options, one being the side lever, but like JimNM pointed out we were quickly approaching the cost of a euro BP. For what we are going to do with them, the sidelever and other notables were not going to improve the overall performance of shooting them only 10 meters, 40 shots at a time.

@ Bigragu - I didn’t weigh the differences but the Vit stock is lighter. More importantly, the balance of the gun is greatly improved for shooting offhand. If you get it too light, the point of aim will wonder and you’ll never be steady enough. I may have to add weight in the forestock to steady the gun. I’m shooting a match tonight so we’ll see. 

If you are going to do most of your shooting offhand, this stock will help by moving the weight more toward the CG. If you are going to shoot bench, don’t bother. 

The stocks are only made in walnut. It’s a Turkish walnut I think.

Update -

So Mark and I took our Mpups to the range last evening. He shot a 40/40 on his guns' maiden voyage and yours truly left 4 standing with a 36/40.

Next week if we don't go to the FT match in Boyd Texas, I'm going to try a heavier scope as it seems the gun still need some slight frontal weight to steady it up.

@ jsp2486 - LOL. sorry, I don't currently and have never owned a Chevette. I though it would be a fair comparison of a marauder to the other thoroughbred (cough, cough) airguns discussed here. 😆

It can never come down to money. The thing I like best about my Mrod, is that it will probably never be completely finished, there's always something else that I might want to try doing to it.

Always have liked these conversions from Craftsman Vit. They are more available now than when I wanted one for my .25, as I never got a reply from them, so I went with maddog BP instead.
