I bought a Daystate Wolverine on sale recently from AOA. Two weeks later, they dropped the price another $100. I called them and asked what they could do about this? They graciously said that they couldn’t refund the money , but would credit my account for $100. That’s good customer support. You didn’t say you called Utah about this, but should.

I wonder what would happen if we sent back everything that wasn’t correct instead of fixing it? This is the strangest hobby when it comes to that. We buy brand new guns and fix them so they function as they should. We buy after the sale stuff and fix it too. I’m trying to think back in time when this all started. How did this become the norm?

It’s very much like owning a Harley Davidson, the last soft tail I bought the gas gauge stopped working after 2 weeks, I went back to the dealer and was told “yep it’s a Harley”

So i got wrapped up with the spam filter and got a good explanation from the mods. I will try again.

Utah air does a great job, but final inspecting everything you get in for stock to the small details like chamferes and deburring would take any margin out of it. They do a good job but could have the exploded view and parts numbers to order oem parts with..... One day. Fxusa used to have it but we know how they ended.

The sheer volume of fx guns blanketing the premium market would be why we hear more negatives than other brands, and the sheer volume is why fx slips ocassionally. I bet if we took out the 1 man boutique guns and did a percentage it's not too bad.

The end user is a big one here too, luckily the op end user knows what's up and made me smile.

As far as FX parts are concerned cape fear airguns in NC can get pretty much anything. He probably doesn’t have as near large of inventory as Utah but I know he has the connections to get parts from FX

Good to know for future purchases. I have purchased from him in the past, just blanked this time around!

I had the same experience with the 600mm .177 barrel kit, I bought one about a year ago and could not get it to group or even have Consistent velocity. So I just put the .22 barrel back in and called it a day.

I will say the fix was not that difficult. Just a cone shaped Dremel grinding stone and a felt cone shaped polishing bit. I did the light grinding by hand, just spinning the stone in the end of the barrel to get a slight bevel, then attached the polishing bit to a drill and buffed it with some metal polish. The difference is night and day, well worth the 15 minutes of work I put into it! But, I understand where you are coming from also. If I hadn't known what to look for or how to fix it, I'd have probably done the same!

Ya I just figured I sucked at tuning a .177 and sold the setup.

On a positive note I got a .177 marauder for pennies and it shoots lights out.

Last Thursday I purchased a 600mm .177 Barrel Kit for my Impact. I purchased from UA because they were the one vendor that showed it in stock. I called to see if they were running any specials for Mother's Day. I was told no. I asked about free shipping because I have read that others have gotten free shipping if they called in their order. Nope, that's usually only for orders over $1000! Well, FX barrel Kits are over priced and down't even come with a magazine, but thankfully, they aren't $1000! So, I hang up and place my order through their website so I can use PayPal 6 months 0 interest. Then Friday morning, I get an e-mail saying they have free shipping all weekend for Mother's Day! What the... Really, their staff didn't know they were offering free shipping the next day and could have told me? I could have easily waited a day if I had known.... Shipping was $19, so I tucked that away and will use another vendor next time.

I received the Barrel Kit on Monday. I installed it and tested it today. Nothing would group and pellets felt as if they were snagging as they were loading into the barrel. At this price point, you'd think you'd get a quality product! Not knowing what was causing this I pulled the barrel and checked the loading end. There was no bevel at all and the angle looked quite sharp. I took a cone shaped grinding wheel and gently grinder a small bevel by hand then polished it and the inside of the bore. I put it back together and cleaned it really well and now it's stacking pellets and they are loading like butter! You know, like they should have to begin with!

A couple weeks ago, I purchased a refurbished Hatsan Flash-R in .177. Yea, I had to fight to get the fill port off the air cylinder because the fill valve was leaking. And, I had to recrown and polish the barrel to get decent groups, but it's shooting small clover leafs at 50 yards now! I had to put some work into it, but it was a $195 refurb, not a brand new $325 FX barrel kit!

Fortunately, the .177 Impact barrel is working fine now, but I still feel at that price, I shouldn't have to rework the bore to get pellets to load smoothly! I feel fortunate to have been hanging around here long enough to actually know what to look for and how to fix it! Thanks Airgun Nation!

Probably a good choice. All the bashing aside which I have done myself, they shoot flat out amazing. My wildcat bt surprises me all the time. I would pick it up over my alpha wolf anytime.

Interesting. I was thinking of buying a .22 500mm barrel kit for my Impact M4 from Utah Airgun... (Bought my M4 from them)

I don't think there are issues with the .22 barrel kits. I have one and did not experience these issues, it worked great right out of the box! I did have an issue with a .30 cal barrel, but that was because someone at the factory used a .25 or .22 cal threaded end adapter! Talk about sizing pellets! But, that was quickly remedied with a new threaded adapter in the correct caliber! I get it, things happen...

My only issue with UA was the fact I specifically asked if they were having any specials for Mother's Day and was told no. The very next day I received an e-mail offering free shipping all weekend for Mother's Day! Had they told me about that special, I'd have waited a day to order! Maybe the guy I spoke with didn't know, I have no idea, but you'd think the staff would know if they were offering any specials that were starting the next day!

If your FX isn't shooting right or you just want to tinker with don't be afraid to polish the barrel, it will improve your accuracy and you can't be afraid to index the barrel I have done it on all of my Crowns and the accuracy is there it just has to be brought out. So this would be the case for all FX rifles not sure about the indexing but polishing for sure and it takes about 30 minutes if that.

The second one had the opposite problem, it wouldn’t fit into the block without sanding and polishing.


It’s clear the quality control has taken a hit. Makes me wonder if they’re still manufacturing these parts in-house.

I’ve been questioning this about some of their guns. So I can see where you’re coming from with components also. When you have older guns that feel better than their new guns, plus some other clues, it’s caused me to raise an eyebrow. And stop all purchases moving forward.
