I just digested something......

Can't say I only just saw them because they are right there, but I finally digested the numbers (i.e., gave them two seconds of thought) and realized there is 5 times the amount of traffic on the PCP section as there is on the Traditional Air Gun section of AGN.

Are PCP's 5 times more popular or just 5 times more complicated requiring more discussion than traditional air guns? Look around any air gun range or in the classified adds and they do seem 5 times more popular.

I would imagine traditional guns, specifically cheap break barrels, outsell PCP's by a huge margin. However, people hanging out on an airgun forum represent a very small, diehard minority in the market. Within the enthusiast space, represented by those on an airgun forum, PCP's are far more popular.

There's something to be said about just grabbing your springer and taking out vermin rather than waiting for your PCP to charge up.
Charge for 2 minutes and get 50 shots and have a magazine or mess around with a single shot and cocking you rifle everytime and maybe get a 1”-2” group at 40-50yds? I’ll take a pcp anyday.. don’t get me wrong I have a springer and think they have their place too like in a survival situation etc.. just not my goto rifle

Springers do what they do, and some do it quite well. But the design has plateaued. By comparison, the PCP world has increased power by 20 percent on some models and some even more, increased air efficiency, adapted to slug use. Reaching up to 50 percent farther than 6-7 years ago. If the springers started to achieve these gains theoretically- their traffic and postings would increase proportionally.

I owned a springer for decades, and never went to an on-line forum to read up about them. They're too simple, I did not require any resources. Once when I was looking for information about a trigger assembly, I looked at a Youtube video about my gun.

But when I started thinking about buying a PCP, the variety and expense made me want to be pretty certain of the purchase. I did not have anyone around me with one, and I couldn't pick one up at Canadian Tire.

No doubt, but my max range is 25meters in a neighborhood full of Karen’s. With that said, the reason I came to this forum was researching what PCP would be “best” for my situation.

Interestingly, I came to the PCP forum looking for a quieter gun than my non-PCP air rifles, a multi-pump, a single pump, a break barrel, and a side lever. :)

I usually shoot from bags off the dining room table Through an open window. Keeps that noise down  so Karen can’t figure out where it’s coming from.

Ya that would suck living with a bunch of Karen’s in the neighborhood, get a nice little compact pcp with a good moderator for mouse fart quiet shots to not disturb the Karen’s 😊👍

Another thing to consider is the median age of our group here. Alot of retired guys who don't want to hurt their shoulder or arm cocking a big ole springer and then have it beat the crap outta them during the shot cycle.

Or having to pump a gun 10-20 times then let your heart rate come back down just to get a good accurate shot off.

I started with co2, then MPP, then springer. Only shoot pcp now because of all the benefits they have over other platforms. If SHTF, im grabbing the 22LR for the critter getter. A springer is going to get really tiring dragging it through the woods in that situation. A carbine 1322 is another option, but the click clack gives away position and scares off game.

I’ve only been into airguns for a little over two years. I have 4 PCP rifles and bought an HW95L in October I think it was. Took a little bit of range time one afternoon to get the proper hold figured out. By the end of that day I was hitting 12ga shot shells at 50 yards. Not every time, but close. Today I upgraded to a TX200 MKIII.
Very impressive rifle. I am thoroughly enjoying both platforms at this time.
