I have been to many air gun forums, this one is

by Far the most entertaining ; I like that such a wide variety of posters are on it.

In time one can "learn" who really know their "stuff" from those that try,it takes time and is a great "study".

No advise is better than bad advise, on this forum bad advise usually gets noticed and corrected or debated.

Another great thing is how many different topics are headed

Got to go,Thanks to all.

Even bad advice can be valuable. One can make many of a mistake in a lifetime. But, if one was to obtain information before hand , one could ponder the outcome in time.

I would have easily traded some of my friends in my 20’s for friends who were in their 70’s.

I assume this post is in response to the most recent AGN gossip. I’d rather be given bad advice than no advice. Something can’t be learned from nothing. This said, I understand where you are coming from. There was almost too much... some of it lacking valuable substance. Much like my post here.

Only reason I’m sticking on this forum as often as I am is the traffic. Which seems to be an issue to some people. I certainly have a few people pegged as ones to ignore. I generally learn better from seeing other people’s comments, then I’ll form my own ideas on issues. Therefore, the more traffic on a thread the better regardless if it’s correct or not as I can discern that myself. It’s the ideas that help and bad advice can be good contrast to get to a better answer.

Right now this forums has a leg up on the yellow and GTA for the particular forums I’m interested in simply due to higher traffic but sometimes I seriously considering leaving due to pansies criticizing everyone. Other times I want to jump in and start a thread accusing Yo! Of being Tom Gaylord in disguise. Or maybe a Saudi prince. Or Rick Eustler.

I have learned that being on some forums is a learning process. If you only jump on a forum when it’s time to buy or only when you have a problem, you are not getting the most out of that forum. Everyone who is active in a forum begins to learn who they can trust. We also learn that when we have a problem or questions, who we want to show up to help. It’s hard for the casual user to tell the difference between a Google education or a dude who is legit. I have been spending more time here just like 270 said, because of the traffic. The traffic was a bit heavy when the US got put on lockdown. Had quite a few interesting critters show up. The foundation will still be here when they are gone if we stay the course.

Discussion good or bad is okay. People get to uptight and get butt hurt way to easy. YO! When I post I don't care if anyone responds to them or what they think. Half the time my posts are ignored. But the same post on many of the other forums im on , there are people that are interested and reply. Airgun Nation is the most active but most here are into PCP. Springer's are secondary. This is a great place for general discussion but for technical help or topic specific subjects GTA is by far the better forum. They have very specific topics and a large library of how tos. However there dashboard is not very user friendly.

Each forum is different and it's best to used more than one for accurate and helpful information.

I was not referring to any one person,I personally do not have the time for bad advice.

Bad advice can hurt someone, cost money and time, that is why I like it here ,others will step in and offer their "experience".

Maybe doing it on your own is a better way of learning,I do not know for sure,I know I get 90% right 87% of the time. The one thing I do have trouble with are some types of fishing reels ,springs are always causing me trouble.

Is it Micheal that runs this place,I was thinking he does a great job,he is fair minded.

I was on another air gun forum,it used to be great, but things have changed,it is is still ok.

Guy on the off forums made fun of people and called them names, was a a Bogart, because of him some people I liked left ...it was like they did not have to put up with him,I did "talk" to him and got things straighten out,he knew he had to be "nicer" towards others and their views, but it was too late for the ones that left.....

My opinion is I never would have let the person abuse others as he did....the Watch Keeper should have stepped in and warned him..it is up to the moderator to "help out"....people leave when they get disrespected..it is not about him ,it is about the good of the forum and All its members.

A great help and a place I have made many friends. Some great minds are here and really generous men that share thier knowledge experience with me an anyone that asks. It's my favorite forum on the internet. My only criticism is that the forum search should be easier to use and I would like to see people tattle on eachother a little less often. Not much we can do about that though.

Ladies and Gentlemen

The issue with shooting forums are closely linked to culture and language.

I remember being in Amsterdam in the 70's and they had trouble understanding my accent and figured English was not my native tongue.

Stuff gets lost in translation.

Due to the US second amendment the American influence is almost overwhelming.

However this forum is International and you could argue that the dominate air gun influence is Swedish with the English and Germans close behind.

You could argue that air power is new to America as opposed to Europe.

Here comes the cultural factor.

A point in case is not everybody gets the Aussie sense of humor, we appear serious but we are " taking the piss".

The English are "Monty python" like in there humor.

The European's are maybe too reserved.

The Americans take themselves too seriously.

Thing is tolerance and understanding and don't get your nickers in a knot.

No body knows it all, not even Americans.

There are no bad questions but answers are views and opinions that are based on experience.

Experience is cultural in shooting.

Above all else this forum is entertaining.

Some people like horror for entertainment.

I personally don't.

Diversity requires tolerance and understanding.

VIVE LA Difference.

And everybody has access to the delete function.

Deafdog

Ya the gta forum is a mess but certainly more technical for springer people. I like the layout of this forum and the white background. It’s easy to use and navigate. I also like that it’s easy to attach pictures and we all can have a profile picture.

Agreed insofar as the technical nature of GTA goes, however disagree regarding being a mess. To me, this is more of a social gathering. Both kinds fulfill a need.

I do spend more time over there because I'm more interested in technical matters. But I do find some interesting and valuable threads here pretty often.

I have to disagree with you deaf dog. Americans in fact do know it all. Airguns may not have been in America as long as Europe but like everything else we perfect an already good idea. Got manifest destiny? Bam! How about a constitution and Bill of rights! Freedom to shoot 12 fpe? Wham how about freedom to build a machine gun! Europe comes up with a Brocock bantam? How about an 82cal helium xp fire breathing monster because.... Merica. So the next time you try to tell us that Americans don't know everything think about them apples! We do know everything. Just ask any American. 😜

Haha well to be fair you could definitely see nipples on that one. I think GTA is more bottle builds and more economical guns but modded. More talk of SSGs and BBLs shooting BBTs. Yeah little more serious there here its more high end maybe more of a global scene here maybe not hard to say.

I almost got a marauder as my first gun but got a Royale 500 instead if i had gotten the marauder i bet i would have spent more time there. I like both though, lots of good posts, knowledge, and good people at both places.

I felt the same way the first time i posted on GTA about my Cricket, it was a while back when Steve was the only importer for Kalibrgun. Nobody commented or replied anything. They were more into low-mid budget guns, I think is a bit different now, well i stopped posting there long time ago.

Renz

There's alot of activity for the Darkside. But their UI is outdated and hard to navigate. I feel that about posting on Springer's here.
