I got a Quail yesterday

Hello, I'm kind of new here in the Forum... here's one Quail that I've shot yesterday.
I have a .25 Cal FX Crown and a 6-24x56 UTG Scope... the shot was from 50 yds, the shot went through the vitals, it didn't even move. It fell on the spot. My kid was very happy and surprised.

When we got home we fried it on the pan and even the cats enjoyed the guts, head and legs.

I haven't seen a quail in years. I used to hear their bob white whistles a lot, but no more. I miss that.

You and me both. My dad was a big-time quail Hunter, and when I was a youngun 3 of us could limit out on a single covey (after chasing down the singles). Then one day, seemed like overnight.....they were gone.

I see/hear so few nowadays that I wouldn't dare shoot one.

...man...that looks good..... here in north texas (d/fw area) , there have been no quail around - or if there are , i havent been blessed to see them. when i was a kid hunting and trapping in the early 1980's , a covey of quail would light off and we'd nearly crap our pants ! those bobwhites would align themselves in a circle facing outward so that if one became startled, it'd cause a chain reaction and hell of a lot noise.....the damn quail and the huge-ass bullfrogs both would scare the poop outta ya..... ever since the fire ants got into this area - no quail ....... my grandparents trapped the japanese blue quail out in fort stockton (far west texas) , tho.....they showed me how to do all of that... one or two of the nicer mexican and central american restaurants serve up good quail here (gloria's and uncle julio's) - that's about the only quail action i get nowdays - around here, anyway.... thanks for the cool post and welcome to airgunning ! ......you know, consequently , they DID have a special documentary on pbs (public television) about nutria this week.... the nutria came into this area right about the same time as the damn fire ants..... yall know public television has a very liberal agenda , but there they were promoting nutria furs and pelts ! --- and cooking the hell out those things - louisianna style !!! nutria have become so over populated down there that many gain income on the $5 bounty per nutria (swamp rat) tail....they were just throwing the rest of the animal away...........probably aint got poop on the taste of quail , but it was good to mention i saw that on extreme left tv. - rane on !

These are very tasty, but once you shoot they're all gone and they won't come back after some hours have past. I love their whistle, sounds amazing... I've been living in the city my whole life, so being in the outdoors... breathing fresh air and listening to all kind of birds is just amazing.

I'm glad that I've found a place where I can share my hunting experiences (videos/pictures)... I used to do it at Facebook, but there seems to be a lot of people that gets easily offended and verbally attack hunters.

The past year I uploaded a picture of two quails that I shot (but in this case with my friend's .22 Sumatra) and I received a lot of bad feedback.
Question, have you ever knocked out a bird? I shot a third quail that day and it looked dead. I inspected it and didn't find any injuries. I put it in a bag believing it was dead, after some minutes it started moving again and made its way out of the bag and flew away. That's the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me.

To conclude... I'm proud of that final "lucky shot" the quail from the right was running and I shot it in the face. You can clearly see that's missing a chunk.
