I finally shoot a impact..😁

I like it a lot..found it to be light with a great trigger ..in .30 is back yard friendly.... do I want one .really not ...i don't find the reason for the hysteria about it ..as for excitment goes really prefer to shoot cast bullets tethered from my custom condors...I wouldn't sell them not even one to purchase that pcp..and that without even talking about taipans n crickets..would I sell one of my crickets to fund one absolutely not..be sure that if I ever post one for sale is to fund a taipan or another uragan..have one .30 coming this month...that is my personal taste..maybe I was expecting more for what it costs ...

I’m in agreement with ya. I had to have one but I got my impact mk2 in .25 with some extras , is it what I expected “not really” it is super nice. But would trade it in a heartbeat for the right bullpup

I have an Impact MKII in .25 and .30 caliber myself. I really like it a lot, but my reasons are for its external tuning adjustability's, especially its external valve dwell adjustability, which is the reason for getting it. My surprise was just how low the ES and SD can become with proper tuning. The forward, easy cocking and the large capacity magazine are big pluses.

Is it the best gun out there for everyone...Of course not...No gun is. Do I have issues with some parts of it...Of course I do. Overall though it is a gun for me. I really like the consistency with accuracy shot after shot. It's hard to miss with this platform, if you become familiar with it and learn it, just like many other high end models, or not.

A lot of great guns out there to choose the one for you. Certainly the Impact is one of them, but you have to understand what you are entering into with this complexed platform and many others that are in this same classification.

I hope to own a Taipan some day to see what it is all about. There's no way I would give up my Impact for any of them though. It is a keeper in my view.

I feel the same about how TriggerTreat feels towards the Impact. I’m more of a function over looks kinda guy, and all things mechanical fascinate me. How parts mesh with one another, pulling this affects that, pushing that does this, that sort of thing. The more complex in design a gun is, the more I’m lured to it, and I’m going to eventually buy it to see what it is all about.

so, having said that, the minute I opened up an impact and saw how it functioned in getting air from the tank to the skirt behind the pellet, it is an engineering marvel. While most pcp’s follow the marauder type of design, this impact does the complete opposite, in the way the parts are laid out, to get air from point A to point B. And like TriggerTreat mentions about being able to control the air distribution, I can see why there’s a following on this platform. 

The STX barrel liner system is superior to most. Although I have my negative feelings of how it was introduced into the market with a twist rate design that switched over like 3 times, it still is a far superior design in allowing a person to truly own one pcp and be able to go from a 22 cal, 675 FPS rat hunting gun all the way to a 30 cal behemoth competing at an EBR event. Name one PCP that can “do it all” and the picture of the FX Impact will always be at the top of the list. Barrel cleaning is much easier and done more thoroughly with a removable liner.

i see many complaints about cost of the gun, especially when something goes wrong. One should take one apart and see why this gun has as many o rings as it does. O rings mean air passages, which also allow the user to control the air at any one point on the gun. The more air passages there are, the more design and Machining went into it, with tighter tolerances in parts meshing with one another. And to be able to achieve the power and accuracy in such a compact platform is unbelievable! Compare the looks and size of the impact to PCP’s of past design(like a Marauder, for example) and you'll better understand how far this industry has evolved.

Yeah, that’s a lot of labor from the minute the gun was drawn up on CAD all the way to the hands of the end user. Add shipping fees from overseas to all that, ha ha. $2200 is not chump change to me, but at the same time, I agree with what FX demands for in this gun.

Now, am I an Impact fanboy? No way, lol. The FX wildcat MK2 will always be my go to.

I agreed with the mechanical n pneumatic marvel of the gun..keep in mind that most high end pcp now days start at $1700+ mostly because they have saw we dont mind n pay .. me included..but for a gun all cnc cut with really bad tolerances ..n really bad reliability..my taipan veteran long..at $1250 when I purchased ..fells more gun to me than the impact..because to me $2,200 is about mechanical perfection..about going from. 22 to .30 that is if the buyer wanted..me personally i prefer to have a dedicated caliber for each gun .. I hate to change barrels even if it is 4 screws .. that the barrels are superior..I really don't think so .. straw barrels that need reinforcing in order not to have poi time after time..is easy to have a lot of design selling dreams because like you said they first barrels were crap. N they make a ton of publicity about how that smooth twist was the one to have ..n then time proven to be wrong..now we are in the 4gen of barrels ..they had to admit that complete twist on the barrel was the way to go..but yes once you have it reinforced enough is awesome to be able to change the twist for your desired pellets .. I imagine that now there is more understanding about twist rate more companies will sell their guns better suited for the caliber..I'm not in disagreement of the price...is that the perfection in machining is not there for the hipe..I would have preferred to pay $500 more for it and have the reliability of the eastern European guns .. in my shop I have really expensive Italian n French pneumatic machines..at the time of purchase they run between 4,000 to 25,000 depending on application.. cheaper versions between 1,800 n 10,000 .. so I went with the expensive ones n you know what...yes they have had a hiccup this year...after 16 years of service..higher quality justify price.

I do wish they could make airguns a bit more stout in the internals, i had not put that many pellets thru my FX Cyclone before i had to fix leaks in it, and found out how many really small parts there is in one of those.

I also think personally that with many expensive things it is hard to get the price / what you get ratio to add up.

I would never use 2 million USD or whatever on a snazzy super / hyper sports car, but i would spend that money or more on a 15 ton APC which i would use for daily driver.

No buyers remorse over the FX Maverick i am waiting for, not even at night / morning when i toss and turn 5 - 10 hours in bed desperately trying to fall asleep. And it is after all a substantial dent it make in my pension.

I think the Impact is a gun that is not for everyone. I think a gun that you as an airgunner should earn. What I mean about that is that the more you learn the more you want to tweak and the harder the challenges you impose to yourself. I remember my main motivation for selling my Taipan was to be able to adjust the regulator without the need to take the gun apart. That Taipan was excellent, but I used it for so long that I felt I've outgrown it. I needed something else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that if you don't like the impact is because you haven't grown, what I'm saying is that I see many people buying one as first PCP without understanding the basic principle of adjustability and they are getting the hands on something that offers a great deal of controls.

I think at some point I'll order one, because I like to tune. I was thinking about an analogy with cars and I don't know about you, but all these trend about self driving is not for me, I like to get behind the wheel and be in control, that's part of the experience of driving, to have a car that drive for himself, I just pay an Uber, well I digress, the point I want to make is the new Delta Wolf, is one gun that feels like one of those self driving cars, I think that gun kills the fun of being in control, I hope FX understand this and don't go that route, because the desire to be in control is why people like the Impact. Shooting it and hitting the target is just the end result

I guess it all depends on your personal preferences. For me the more that I've matured in airguns now the less I want to tinker with a gun. No extra accessories no nothing. Just take a gun out of the box, mount a scope and go. While I see the draw for people to tune every little piece and part of air delivery, it's not really necessary to get a great shooting gun. But for an impact I think it's more necessary with the thin liners and harmonics. Yes adding CF tubes and such can help stiffen but I don't know, spending that kinda coin on a gun then having to add accessories to get it to be more stable and keep from changing POI? No thanks. My guns need to be tough and handle being in my truck getting bumped around day to day and no POI issues. Now a benchrest competitor I can see it thriving more so but tough and rugged farm gun, can't see it.

I guess it's like an exotic sports car? Is it worth the price? Is it practical? Nice to have, but not necessary! Pick up truck is much more useful. (for me any way) BUT! If I were entering a race or a competition?? YES! I'd like something specifically designed to give me the biggest advantage possible.
To each their own.

I purchased one when the first came out. End up selling it.

Ended up having seller remorse! Purchased the MKII. 

Do I need it for the type of shooting I do? Absolutely NOT!!

I also have a WildCat MKII which I'm luck if I take it off the wall to shoot once a year?

My most useful gun is my old faithful P-rod. For pest control that's really all I need, it's deadly accurate out to 50 yards.

If you are take the gun out of the box and shoot kind of guy then don’t bother with impact, if you think it’s an adult Lego set then impact and FX in general is the best. Also if you like traditional look and feel of a gun then don’t get bullpup in general. 



I have dedicated guns for specific ammos at specific speeds but I wouldn’t pay even $1000 for a dedicated gun unless I shoot it for a living. In fact if I want dedicated guns with reliability with zero POI shift at all then I’ll buy unregulated guns.

I like how Orion and Dairyboy explained it, plus others. I am not very good with words myself, but do at least try.

Having done most every tinkering mod many times to a couple of Marauders, and creating some of my own mods, requiring disassemble many times for adjustments, I find the Impact a real joy. Primarily as I get lazier and still want many tuning abilities. I did learn a lot about tuning from doing the Marauder mods and listening to others comment. With the Impact, most all of those adjustments and more are external now which is so, so sweet. I am not a big fan of swapping calibers with one gun, but I am glad I can and FX makes doing this very painless. It is also true about the liners, but you have to give something up for all of these options offered. I find the Impact still runs circles around my Marauders in consistent accuracy as good as they are.

I view the Taipan as an improved Marauder with the mods. I am contemplating buying one to eliminate having to swap calibers on the Impact. I have some reservations about the Taipan holding me back (Impact owner). So, I am taking notes on the Taipan and many others to find another good fit for me. Accuracy is the main thing, but not all of it as I get older and lazier. I'm not sure I am ready to become a set and forget air gunner just yet. I still like to have options (more bang for the buck).

2k is just barrier of entry to another 2k you'll have to spend in mods, liners, and other ways to accessorize the gun. Its great for the man who is insatiable... oddly enough some of those same men complain about spending a few extra hundred on an entry level sub 500$ gun only to say "buy once cry once" with their impact, only to have to buy the next model, and then the next, and the sub sequential accessories, performance mods, or what not, just as they had to with their sub 500$ rifle... oh irony, my dear good friend, how sweet you are.

to some impact IS 100% over engineered, over complicated, over hyped and over everything else. To some it’s a great value and fine tool to achieve what they need to do. Just because it doesn’t fit your needs or taste it doesn’t mean it’s over a lot of things because it’s just right for many. To some people even a PCP is over everything because they can shoot a bird at 50 yards with a springer, it’s all about perspective.



then the irony of “complaints” from those who bought MK2 and then “cries” when M3 comes out but went straight online to buy it……that’s like rich people bitching about paying taxes, it’s show off in the form of “complaining”. It’s expensive, horrible, leaks, this and that……but look I got 3 of them.



THEN popping off a few shots vs actually owning it and tuning it to exactly how you want it are 2 completely different stories.

I'm not retired so I really don't have time to waist. Tuning the same gun over n over I learned from the air force line , that I hate to change barrels let alone start tuning for the next caliber..and even if I was retired I still don't have time because I really want to shoot..so I have gun for what ever weight I want to shoot tuned for that specific pellet weight..so if I have a iguana gun that gives me 50shots at 910 I don't think I need anything else..a .25 cal 26g pellet at constant 910 fps is enough for hunting reptiles from 10 to 90y depending on the shot ..25g not enough..well out it goes the 34g + shooter not enough then we use 51graner ..still not enough then the .257 condor comes in a bench to shoot 90g HP at 990fps to make a abstract painting of those iguanas on the trees ...apropiet weight n speed for the desired hunt without..to much twisting knobs...the only gun I could buy thinking in 2 calibers will be a prophet..only because I cast bullets and the rti looks like a easy to adjust,platform to test twist rates...

I couldn't be happier with my mkii! I can tune it quickly for different purposes and it's been super reliable with over 10,000 pellets through it
