I finally found a rifle that likes Crosman Ultra Mags???? A first ever for me.

I've shot a lot of airguns over the last 5 years and I have yet to find one that likes CPUM's until today.

I bought a beautiful 2014 model Daystate Wolverine B recently and have had a time getting it to group like I want until tonight. Before I tried the 14.3 gr CPUM's, I had the best luck with the 18 gr Edgun branded Jsb's, and the 21 gr Beeman Kodiaks. But even they didn't suit me.

This rifle is not regulated and it's best shot string is from 215 bar to 170 bar with about 35 usable shots at roughly 27 fpe. So, I just fill to 215 bar and shoot 3 mags and refill. You can certainly shoot a couple more mags on a fill, but the groups won't be as tight as the first three mags.

I didn't get the chance to chrony the Crosman's tonight, but the 18 gr Jsb's are running about 820 fps. So I figure the Crosman's are running close to 900 fps?

Here she is, ain't she a beauty! Thank you DuncanHynes for selling me this beauty.

Here's some of my earlier groups at 28 yds with Kodiaks, H&N Sniper, and the EDgun branded JSb's

Then tonight I tried the Crosman pellets and the magic unfolded?

Hopefully I can do better tomorrow in the daylight.

That stock is a beauty!!!!!! Crosman domes really are decent pellets but my hands are black after dealing with them. You can actually get them at Cabela's store ( if you have one near by).

Sure is hard not to scratch the itch for a new rifle. LOL! I have 5 Falcons, 2 Marauders, and 1 Cricket Carbine and still looking to buy JUST............ one more ( .25 Bullpup).

Beautiful rifle and pretty darn nice groups Too!!!!

Doc

Doc, you have some fine looking rifles yourself. Those Falcons are awesome.

Norm, looks like bad news is coming in pairs. I wake up to hear about these pellets of mine and now the gun has leaked down over night. I guess I need to watch a ton of videos or send her off and have her completely resealed? I've got two guns leaking now, this Wolvie and the little semi-auto Sig Sauer MPX both found leaking within hours of each other?

Peace and oring grease

I've always had pretty good luck with the Crosman 14.3 Ultramags in .22 and 10.5 gr in .177.

The Brocock Bantam i had shot them real well as does my Career 707 II .22 carbine. I shoot them at 990-1000 fps out of it and it's a laser. Killed about 20 Starlings last evening all the way out to 80 yards with them in the Career. I pick them up when I see them locally at walmart. Just got the last two tins there for $5.00 ea.

John, I think my couple of tins have been in a drawer since 2013 or 2014? LOL I'll follow your advice on the next batch.

Randy and Scott, I used to think guys that talked about how good the Crosman's are shooting in their guns were pulling my leg, but not anymore. And you guys are making a believer out of me.

I've got to call FX USA here in Wilmington Monday morning and make arrangements to take my Wolverine by there for a complete oring reseal and a good check up. She should be like a new gun by then!

I did some serious .177 battles between three different guns today. Real busy right now but will do a post on it later tonight.

Thanks for the info guys.

Ive not Jimmy. No Airgun BR matches close to me....

Dan, I don't have any matches near me either. I still like to shoot the BR Cards though.

I tried a bunch of different pellets at 28 yds with my Thomas this evening. The Crosman's, H&N's, and even the 8 gr predator polymags. They all grouped rather poorly as compared to the JSB Monsters. I didn't try them at varying speeds though. Just left it set for the power I was shooting the monsters at. I wish the polymags grouped well because they made a very defined hole in the paper like a wadcutter does.

Maybe one day I'll get out there with the chrony and try them again at varying speeds.

Peace and polymag grease
