Finally bought a PCP. I am really excited about geting it. A new airgun experience for an old airgunner. I hope the .25 cal "AIRFORCE" CONDOR SS MODEL R1212 PELLET RIFLE is as good as the reviews claim. I like that it is made in the USA.

I saw a .30 cal barrel for the gun. I did not really understand about the caliber limitations. Can a .45 barrel be fitted to this model? Or just the .30? I am sure the 25 cal will kill the groundhog digging up my backyard.

I read the 24 inch barrel that's baffled 25 is backyard friendly. Anyone AN members using this setup near neighbors?

There is a .30 cal barrel kit from Talontunes, but it isn't just a barrel, it also includes a larger breech and valve stem/top hat for the bottle. The stock breech holes where it slides forward and back on the barrel, where you load the pellet, aren't big enough for a .30 barrel! And then as long as one is replacing the breech, a bigger top hat/valve stem kinda makes sense. But overall, I wouldn't recommend the .30 Condor for most cases. I tried it because I shoot lead free pellets (where to find lead free .30 is another story), and since they are lighter, I wanted to see if the Condor could shoot a bigger pellet to compensate for the lighter weight. It can, but no it isn't backyard friendly. It is loud even with the talontunes humongous moderator, and that big of a pellet at that power probably doesn't belong in a "friendly" back yard.

But your .25 SS should be quiet enough, especially at middle to lower power levels. It has an 18" barrel and the baffles do a great job. With the stock (big) tank orifice you can have high power (for heavier pellets), or one can remove the hammer weight (just forward of the breech), and put an o-ring under the top hat to de-tune it a little for lighter pellets. With that the power wheel will have more adjustment effect with the lighter pellest; mine will adjust from ~13 to 50 ft#. If I want more power than that I put the hammer weight back in.

Note that it might shoot the best well below the rated 3000 psi. Mine tend to like ~2400 down to ~1800 psi and have more consistent power in that range. You'll notice that the pellet POIs will rise until the tank pressure lowers to the sweet spot, then POIs will stay there until tank pressure gets too low, when the POIs will drop again.

You can add a moderator and the AirForce platform gets very quiet. Adapters are available that either replace the shroud plug or attach to the barrel. I believe the 18" SS just needs the shroud plug. The 24" needs the barrel attach (mine did).

Then there is the ease of modifications and the stupid ability to more than double the cost of the rifle:

1.1l fat bottle with custom butt plate
Huben Power Max-ATH regulator with 50CC plenum
High flow top hat
Delrin breech with knurled knob
95g hammer
Heavy spring
24" barrel
Barrel mount moderator adapter
Reximex Silent Force moderator.

You started with the correct platform.
Airforce is the simplest design and the easiest to maintain. I think there are a total of 4 orings. 3 in the tophat (the valve on the tank) and the one between the tank and tophat. They use a Lothar-Walther barrel so they are quite accurate. You can use a hand pump it air them up, but a compressor is a LOT easier.

Then if you want they are easy to modify. 5-10 minutes to change the barrel. Usually 6 to 8 3/32 grub screws and the barrel just slides out. So you can have .177, .22 and .25 barrels for whatever you want.

Want more power, longer barrel.
Want more shots, add a regulator.

All you need to do is ask here and how to achieve what you want will be addressed.

Yeah best possible place to start and getting the SS is nice cause you don't have to mess with a moderator and uses the full volume of the shroud. 18 inch barrel was a real sweet spot for the valve on that gun I think. 24 inches get you more power but 18 is plenty and you can use heavier pellets and the valve will stay open longer to deliver more power to drive them.

Very reliable, super easy to fix, lots of options if you feel like upgrading to higher power later on.

The setup will be easy.
Mount your sights (11mm rail but you shoot springers so 11 is probably normal)
Air up the tank.
Cock the gun, push the breech knob until it *snaps*
Push a pellet in the breech.
Pull the knob back and seat the breech on the tophat.
Clear the safety (it sets on every cocking)
Point safely and shoot.

You know how to sight a rifle.

You can crank the power wheel to 4-6 to start with, less will give more shots, more fewer shots.

The pests will not appreciate the Condor.
