I did a little egg hunt today

I set out steel eggs at various distances from 15 - 40 yards. I used my .22 R9 rested on a tripod trigger stick and H&N FTT 5.53 pellets to knock them over. This sure is a fun way to add some variety to my airgun shooting.

I hope everyone is well and that you are getting to spend a few moments doing something that you enjoy. Be safe. Thanks for looking!

Is the leather piece your pellet pouch?

Yes it is. Picked it up from Amazon.

It works pretty good actually. I have .22 cal pellets in there now. When it gets low it’s a little more challenging to fish a pellet out but certainly not a problem. It holds a 500 ct tin on .22 pellets no problem.

.177 cal pellets are more difficult to fish out. I was thinking that a foam filler in the bottom would help that. It’s deep, that’s the issue.

This link shows a different clasp than the one I have. I had a choice of clasps when I ordered mine. It’s only showing the magnetic clasp option in this link. I should have bought two when I did but I didn’t know if it would work for me or not.

Looks like great fun! Never get tired of looking at that gun either. Stay safe! I’m heading to the trenches in the AM.

Thanks Christian! It’s a fun gun. I always enjoy shooting it but it’s pretty loud with the shortened barrel so I don’t shoot it as often as I would like. I’m getting pretty spoiled with the moderated PCPs as far as sound report goes. My other springers are much more tolerable compared to the R9. I may put the original length barrel back on it just for that reason. It also tames the shot cycle some.

I’ve been in the trenches too since this COVID-19 thing has been going on. I work in a group of 12 people. 7 are “out” so that leaves 5 of us to cover 24 hours a day. We run 2 man crews. Needless to say I have been working a TON of OT!!! Two or three days a week I’m only home to sleep, seriously. Off at 11 pm and start again at 7 am.

Be safe out there and hang tough brother!

About 2 years ago I bought about a dozen of those pouches off of EBay for about $ 3 each I got one for all different pellets and slugs I use, and spares. They are from the 1970s Chinese military left overs.

You can put a small piece of memory foam in the bottom. It will crush down when full then lift up pellets when near empty. A little trick I figured out.

Beautiful gun! My R9 also has a short barrel and does have a crack to it. I was thinking of making a full length shroud that extended beyond the barrel maybe 3" and then capping it off. This works on myTX which is much less annoying than the R9. It would need to be 12" however, and I am having trouble finding the (cheap) tooling needed to drill and ream the minimum 6" from each end. So I may go with a 7-8" muzzle weight, but with the same silencing chamber at the end. Where did you get the sleeved barrel shown in your pictures?

There was a fellow that used to make the sleeves. His name is Tim Wilson. I think I was one of the last ones to get his sleeves before he stopped. This was probably close to ten years ago. It’s really a superb piece of work. The finish and blueing is very well done. The barrel was the original barrel that came with the rifle. Is sent it off to have it cut, choked and recrowned. I really like the bull barreled look of it.
