If the pic is located on a 3rd part site just copy the direct link & paste it in the body here.

It's hit or miss with me, mostly miss with Imgur. I've used the their direct link button but I normally get an error message from the forum. Sometimes the stars align and it works but normally it just downloads the link and not the photo. Photobucket work much better.

Hummm.......after PhotoBucket tried to hold my pics for ransom I deleted that account and started using two different free photo hosting sites. The first site used was Snapagogo and it still functions well. Here is a pic from Snapagoao clicking the Embed Codes, Links & URLS under the image title, then under direct links I copied the "Image URL" and pasted the link here using ctrl+v.........


Here is a pic from Imgur.........

After selecting the image I wanted from the "Scopes&Mounts" folder I snapped the thumbnail for the above pic. Then I clicked "Huge Thumbnail" in the "SIZES" box, then I selected "BBCode (message boards & forums)" and pasted the link here using ctrl+v.

Anywhoo.......after the PhotoBucket "hostage episode" I created sub folders in my "Pictures" folder (I'm using the Linux Mint operating system) and saved all pics to my hard drive. Occasionally, I'll burn my pics to a CD for safe keeping if one (or both) of my free hosting sites decides to "go hostage"......

Some sights reject photos if the file is too large. Copy the photo at a lower resolution and try again

Imgur and Snapagogo automatically resize photos when uploading. For example, this pic size is 65.1 KiloByte from the Imgur hosting site..........

However the same file uploaded from my small Nikon camere is 6.6MegaByte (about 1000x larger?).

Just to state the obvious, are you using the .jpg file type? That's the most commonly used.
