Did it once ... MAJOR PITA !! Good thing it was to try and salvage the barrel sleeve because we fubared the barrel beating it out.

the thing is, it isn't a shroud but a sleeve and they don't come off
make a stop large enough for the sleeve, secure and cut off the 16mm you need
maybe you can find a drill stop large enough but I doubt it, hole in a piece of wood or a piece of pipe or just free hand it

Thank y’all . I tried heating it up with a heat gun ( to hot to touch) and no luck. I like the idea on wood and free hand.

Well no got the 38 mm off. Waiting on blueing and spring compressor for the next step.
