Nice to see the meme of you at the keyboard, pretty well what I pictured. World records are "cherry picked" as well. My numerous 1st and 2nd place FT finishes speak for themselves and some were witnessed by others members on this forum. If you happen to not know the definition of opinion and fact find a dictionary they explain it.

Your numerous first and second place FT finishes speak for them selves WHEN THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MAN WHO DID THEM ... They don't say a damn word when some random avatar with an attitude of superiority and arrogance jumps into the middle of thread because he is triggered when another poster disagrees with him. You jumped into this thread just to prove you were more knowledgeable than some guy who was obviously just spouting off. Why? Did you feel the need to document your experience? Why? You're a world class shooter, right? So what is it? Do you have an inferiority complex, or are you just an arrogant ass?
You sir, are a legend in your own mind. Make sure to put those NUMEROUS first and second places under the name "DualMagMike" in the future so everyone (not just your "friends") will know you are a world class shooter...

You seem to need to DEMAND respect, rather than earn it... or maybe you think winning an FT match makes you a better person? I've got really sad news for you if you believe that.

I guess your avatar is not random or means something, and how do you get any sort of superiority or anything else from an avatar? Sounds quite odd really. I am not triggered by anything just someone who mentions truth over lies and facts over opinions. Once again perhaps you can't understand or handle that, seems that way. I commented so that others can know truth and facts as I have already mentioned more than once. Did I mention world class at any point? I need not prove anything to you (ten dimes challenge) as I said my shooting has been witnessed at matches by more than one person on this forum and commented on. Your avatar (you seem to be a bit stuck on mentioning that) is that supposed to be impressive somehow? Not really sure what you were thinking but I guess it makes sense on an airgun forum? You mentioned "cherry picked" I offered it's no one off by once again stating facts and some FT credentials. Once again you say one thing I respond and you have an issue with it. Did I ask or require you to be impressed? If you are fine if not no care is given here. Rant, I believe I mentioned once some of my FT shooting and you consider that a rant then jump to world class? Again quite odd... Demand, at what point did I demand anything? Again quite odd for you to think and state this. Do a little looking around and you will see members seek me out specifically to ask questions, not me demanding they do so. I'm happy to answer questions but somehow you'd find fault in that and it would be an issue once again. I can continue this back and forth and educate as you but certainly will not remain silent when you rant and make false claims. Virtually not a single thing you mentioned is correct from demanding, to avatar, to world class, world record, etc and not anything I claimed. Yet again quite odd...

Congratulations on a new shooter!
I love my HW guns. Not sure why but, the 98 was never one my list of guns to desire. The R1 never was either. I guess I was just so satisfied with the HW95/R9 guns that I didn’t look for something else to try. I do know that the 98 action is the same as the 95 action so I can only imagine that it is a great shooter. .20 is another one that never appealed to me. Always went .177 or .22. That’s just me. Seems many that go .20 really love it. Anyway...
That 98 of yours looks and sounds like a WINNER! Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

The R1 was my first springer - 1984 I think? In this day and age, it's hard to relate or even imagine the experience, but going from pneumatics of the 60's & 70's it was incredible! I did have firearms at the time. That gun taught me a few lessons which along with the RWS 52 - my next gun, formed many of my opinions. I've never questioned a well informed persons preference or taste, "de gustibus non est disputandum"

Well, we do seem to be off track... Here is the deal. I don't know you from Adam. You apparently think I should. Clearly you are overestimating the level of "legendary" that winning a couple of FT tournaments confers. Honestly I have to tell you I am so pedestrian, so plebeian, that I could not tell you who won any FT tournament, anywhere, ever. I just have not followed the discipline. Hell, I didn't even know there was such a thing as "FT credentials". Do they come with a badge?
For my part, the only tournaments I ever shot in were service rifle and M60 while in the Army. Every six months the company (200 trained shooters) shot for record. Top three got a three day pass. I always got one of those passes. Every three years the entire Infantry Division (about 18,000 trained shooters) shot for record to decide who was going on to shoot All Army. I was in the top five in my Division so I guess that makes me a legend like you... surely you've heard of me? It was only forty years ago ... Funny how that works, isn't it? Or maybe I'm just blowing smoke on an Air Gun forum and none of that is true, right? How would you know one way or another? So forgive me when I fail to genuflect in the manner to which you are accustomed and after this episode don't expect it in the future either.My admitted rant above was intended to sarcastically explain to you that even if you are (as you seem to say) some kind of widely recognized FT shooter unless I knew who was behind the Avatar, I could not possibly offer the correct level of deference to your vaunted achievements because I would not know who you were. Apparently that point was lost on you, my bad. I'll try to keep it more simple in the future. I can tell you who shoots the most impressive groups on this forum (not who they are, but I know their AVATARs). I won't because I don't think they would want that (and no I don't know any of them personally) but I READ what they write. I wish, that I could shoot that good, TBH. I don't have the strength in my arms or the flexibility in my joints to routinely hit nickles at fifty yards unsupported with a spring rifle. Maybe you do. Maybe you only say you do. What rational person would expect me to know that?
Now regarding "cherry picking". Obviously the group you linked was "cherry picked". How do I know that? Well if you had shot three or four like that on that target, you'd have shown them all, right? So you shot one like that and you took a picture of that one group. That's called "cherry picking". Now with respect to you "proving" something to me. I'm a Computer Scientist. That group proves absolutely nothing, and I can PROVE that, mathematically. I can show that to be a fact, not an opinion. Shoot FIVE like that ONE on the same target and that will impress me. I've probably posted three or four thousand posts on this forum since I first joined it, maybe more. I don't recall EVER posting a single group and offering it up as proof of what a rifle will do. The reason for that? I know what "confirmation bias" is and I avoid it studiously. If you can't do it, no worries. If you can and don't want too, again no worries, just don't expect me to be impressed with a cherry picked group.
Anyway, I think we are about done here. We are talking past each other. We have totally screwed up what might OTHERWISE have been a pretty nice thread. Only a moderator could clean this mess up at this point and it's not fair to ask them to do that. I'll start another thread about the rifle in a few days. I almost took it the shoot down in NC over the weekend but things came up and after practicing on Saturday I realized I wasn't ready to shoot with anyone anyway. Saucer sized groups at 40 yards unsupported are not really going to be anything but entertainment for the other fellows shooting so ... maybe in a month or two when my arms are again used to holding up a rifle ... maybe at that point I won't embarrass myself.
But hey, there are all sorts of ways to embarrass oneself, aren't there?

You probably know but they just started offering the 98 in a grey laminate stock which is very nice looking as well. Here is a picture of my one of kind .177 98 I had a special stock done for me for my 50th birthday a few years back,

Napairgunner beautiful 98 nice 50th gift. I thought this was an interesting thread till took a turn. I don’t post much but log on in morning and evening . My air guns are a nice escape from the stress of life. Sorry to see stress here!

It was a nice thread till it took that turn. I'll try to start another in a few days as I'm setting the rifle up for FTT and will be looking for advice, so we can hope to keep that thread on topic.
Yes his rifle(s) are quite beautiful and left handed as well, probably makes them even more rare and more valuable than some of the others we've been seeing lately in the springer section. I don't collect so wouldn't have a clue.
