HW97KT never disappoints

Tried the FX 8.4’s today and am pretty happy with the results. I usually shoot the barracuda FT’s out of this rifle but I feel I get a little bit of piston bounce so have been looking for a lighter accurate alternative. I’ve tried the JSB 8’s, and I know, basically the same pellet, but today the FX’s were impressive.

Started at 30 yards and re-established zero on the splatter burst diamond. 20 shots down the middle got me right there. Followed by (4) 10 shot groups around the corners.

Pushed it out to 50 yards and this is where I’ll need some practice. The heavier barracuda’s gave me tighter groups but I’m happy none the less.

Finished off with the 10 dimes challenge at 30 yards and of course, the very last shot outside of the bull for a FAIL!!!!

My 97K loves the AA 8.44gr, JSB Exact 8.44gr and H&N FTT 8.64gr. The group sizes are virtually identical.

FTT’s shoot really well also. The AA’s are really loose in my breach, even the 4.52

Impressive! Good shooting!

Thanks CP

If I do my job my 97 will do 5 shots in 3/16 Ctc. 25 yard back yard range. :)

Impressive!!

Very nice shooting.

I have the 97KT in .177 and ,25. Favourite gun to hold.
In the .177 I use Hades, which I find accurate, This gun is ready for anything. Crow

My 97k in .22 is my favorite rifle. I’d love to get my hands on a .25

Beautiful rifle!!! Impressive accuracy!!! Is the stock refinished? The color seems a bit different to most 97 kts.

I did refinish the stock. Stripped it down, sanded in a groove to make thumb up shooting more comfortable, then used a walnut stain and boiled linseed oil.

Not the KT model, but I shoot the 97K on a regular basis. After using the JSB 8.44, the JSB 7.33, the Big Brown Box Crosman 7.9 and10.5, the RWS Match 8.2, and some other leftovers in my pellet box, what it really loves, is the HN Barracuda Match 10.65. And this is out to 50 yards. I would love to find a large building to see what it will do out of the wind. For now, it is a field near my house, and off a folding table.

When the spring in mine, equipped with a Vortex kit got tired and lost a lot of its punch, the gun was shooting JSB 8.44 domes in the high 600 F.P.S. That is not much power at all, BUT with no wind, the accuracy was beyond belief. The shot cycle was deceptively smooth with virtually no bounce at all.

600 F.P.S. is just too slow so I put a Vortek PG 4 steel kit in it that took a while to settle down. I am now pretty much back to the accuracy I had at 600. The gun is pushing about 825 now and that is where I want it to be. The only noticeable difference is more recoil, but that is to be expected.

The H&N ‘Cuda Match 10.65 has my vote. My HW97 Bleu Laminate has a measly 12FPE drop-in tune, so I was surprised this lard-ass pellet performed the best out of a dozen or so samples I’ve put through the wringer. It’s got a big ballistic drop compared to the lighter pellets, I gotta dial the distance or use some Kentucky Elevation.

I just did a few groups with the BM. They were shooting an inch low and 1/2 left from my bull and I didn’t rezero my scope. I’m sure if I did zero to the pellet groups would of been tighter. 30 yard groups were about 3/4 and 50’ were between 1 1/4 and 1 1/2. They have some potential. May run a couple of hundred through it and see how she does
