HW97KT "Jolly Rogers" Edition performance and maintenance check

Continuing to work in my annual performance and maintenance checks on all of the airguns in my vault as time permits, I was able today to work in checking out my .22 Weihrauch HW97KT "Jolly Rogers" Edition. I purchased this gun from an AGN member very early on after the creation of this forum. I sent it out to Scott Schneider at Motorhead for a complete tune. Scott built a new top hat and did a full trigger tune. A couple of years later, in 2019, the main spring broke.

I then reached out to Tom at Vortek, and installed a PG3 High output kit. If memory serves me correctly, I did trim one coil off of the spring kit. This has been one of my most consistent and accurate springers since.

Pulling it out of the vault today, I proceeded to clean the barrel, but it was nearly spotless. The first two patches came out nearly unsoiled.

Next, I checked the lubrication - it was fine. The Sports Match mounts tip-off groove screws weren't loose, but they weren't real tight either. The stock screws were tight. I then checked the torque on the scope mount screws to be certain they were snug, consistent in tension, but not overtight.

The rest of what you might be interested in can be found below. An extremely consistent, very smooth shooter, this rifle performs every time I call on it to do so. Producing over 15 ft lbs, it is about as accurate as one can expect. The H&N FTT 14.66 pellets were not chosen at random or by accident as they shot the best out of this rifle compared to approximately ten of the most popular and traditional options available, varying from 14 to 21 grains in weight.

It appears to be good to go for another year......
