Finally had a day that I could shoot my Weihrauch 97K across the chronograph and find out what it's doing. It was an over cast day with a temperature right around 40 degrees. I shot three 10 shot strings using H&N FTT 14.66 gr. 5.54 head size.......
String #1 Average 667 fps, ES 9 and SD 3
String #2 Average 667 fps, ES 15 and SD 4
String #3 Average 666 fps, ES 16 and SD 5
That makes it right at about a 14.5 FPE rifle........I'm plenty good with that. That is more than enough to easily dispatch small game quickly. Particularly with the accuracy that this rifle has. I know because I have already taken small game with it. It is also shooting with pretty good consistency I think. I may see if I can improve upon it later on. But, I am fine with it's performance as of now. Because it is a freakin tack driver.......
Do any of you ever just get tired of punching holes in paper? I sure do. I get to the point that I can't even group well any more and I think it's because I simply get bored and weary with shooting little black spots on a board or paper. That happened to me this afternoon. So I just put the shooting bag away and began having some fun. I started shooting with no bag support at the steel reactive targets I have set up in the yard. I have them at 25..30..35 and 40 yards. I just couldn't freakin miss with this rifle. So much fun.....
Thanks and enjoy shooting those spring guns.......get out there and do it!
