HW80/HW95 Questions

Hey guys.

Has anyone changed barrels between calibers? I’ve seen replacement barrels for calibers I currently do not have and was thinking of getting a .177 for the HW95 and a .25 for the HW80, but thought I’d ask if anyone else has done this conversion.

Second question is kind of related, which is what is the average FPS you are getting with the .25 HW80.

Lastly, I have an extra DonnyFL Sumo and wanted to add it to the standard HW95 barrel, which I understand is 16mm, but has anyone had success with his adapter over the mini dovetail groves for the front sights?

Hope you are all staying safe and going back to work!

I have changed barrels between R9/HW95 and R1/HW80 with no issues (177 and 22) but have never played with the 25 caliber. My most recent change was converting an R1 to 22 cal chopped and choked barrel from the stock 177 barrel. I home tune my springers and at 2700' above sea level and wanted to see how fast I could push a 22 cal medium weight pellet. Various 13-14+ grain pellets made it within 10fps of 795fps in the R1. Using JSB Exacts and Stratons (15.9g) speed dropped to 740fps +/-fps. It's not as smooth at that power and more hold sensitive. Compared to the R9 which got around 680fps in the middle weight pellets, the increase in speed made it better suited for the 22 cal in my opinion. I ended up giving it to my stepson but if I had kept it -- I would go back to the 177 barrel and see what it would do with some of the heavier 177 pellets.

My R9/HW95 guns are my favorite springers and I believe they are ideally suited for the 177caliber pellets power wise.

Based on the speed drop I got in the R1 using JSB Exact 15.9g pellets, I would think the heavier 25 cal pellets speed would limit it's uses.
