HW50S in the House!

Howdy, all!

I had set my Williams to about right on Saturday. I had limited time to work with, but got some time behind the trigger. It’s helpful that the 25y range is out back and just needs set up!

Today though I got to see a little of what this puppy can do. Off the bat, that Rekord trigger is very nice. I didn’t touch it from the factory, we are happy with one another.

The rifle is coming along very nicely. Groups settled out after Saturday’s shoot. Screws have been backing out slightly, nothing crazy. I keep on them Pre-shooting, while shooting, and post-shooting.

I am still making my way through it’s very first tin. I am shooting Barracuda Match….let’s just say, it’s performing well already, at least in my hands.

Now you see one target there that looks like it must be missing some holes…

First shot I knew was high, as I kept shooting, I started checking the spotting scope on pellet four. I just didn’t see anymore white growing down range…heck ☺️ that was today’s last group. Four consecutively in a hole at 25y during my first “real” session? I called it good for the day!

Can’t wait to shoot more!

Those sights are handy. I have the Beeman sport version on an R7 over 30 years. Set it n forget it.
My UTG 2 piece medium height rings without a stop pin haven't slipped yet on my HW50 holding a Hawke 2 - 7 x 32mm.
The factory seal had grease in the groove at the front of seal. Now has a Vortek seal pushed by factory spring with a snug delrin guide and top hat installed. Still needs run in. Had light scores in the rear of the cylinder where the piston skirt slides. Not what I wanted to see in a virtually new rifle. Polished the scratches lightly and the skirt. A little moly there. Always seemed to cock smoothly, I'll keep an eye on that.

Congratulations. Great gun, and really nice stock on yours. Badger5th it is the one you linked to as long as you choose the version with target knobs. I have the same sight on a Diana Model 34 and am really happy with it. Williams also makes a couple different irises for it including one with a smaller aperture for targets. AoA has it on sale still for $70.

Nice Rig:)
Peep sights are great for younger eyes, keeps the gun's weight "just right" too.
Thanks brother! I’m very pleased with what I ended up with. It’s good to do your homework!

I’ll agree, this rifle comes to the shoulder and eye very quickly. And without the glass, like you said, it feels just right.

I’m plenty impressed, y’all. Love the fact that I can get CZ-452 accuracy in an airgun.

I am using the skinny post insert. I’d love to be able to use the lollipop front and line three circles up for a bulls. I have the same problem shooting my Sharps (powder burner). It’s an astigmatism that I need to have a pair of specs made up for. Just can’t seem to focus through the front site circle to positively hold my target in fuzzy view. But that skinny post is being my friend! Still young’ish eyes! 32 in Feb, shoot with correctionals for distance. My script is four years old, but my eyes don’t require too strong of correction. The glasses I want to have made will keep my left eye (dominant) focused out to ‘round 36” and my right eye out to infinity. I have some good recommendations from some of my older, retired friends, in what to ask the optometrist for.

So happy to have a real trainer, getting real practice, out back.

Wow! That’s whole’lotta enabling points for me! Thanks above for providing the link before I could ☺️. Glad y’all got turned on to a quality American Made sight! The initials to the FP-AG-TK stand for Fool Proof Airgun Target Knob. And Williams’ are just that! I may or may not get a Gehmann 510 further down the line. We shall see.

It’s far more pleasing than a scope to me.

Here is my powder burner with a VERRRRRY similar sight picture…

I shoot the skinny post front insert on both of these. Touching off a .45-2.10” is for sure different than a .177 (😂😂), but sight picture is the same. So thankful for this HW50 and the meaningful practice I will get with it!

I am a fairy active member on the Levergun-Scoundrels forum. I have a similar thread going there as well. I mentioned my activities of two Sundays ago getting in the way of my shooting this rifle much recently. Here’s the cliff notes version.

Have a forum friend in Maryland. While we’ve not actually met face to face, we have gotten very close. He had an injury involving a falling tree four years or so ago. His mobility is a little curtailed currently, and he is moving to my state of South Carolina. They’re only moving 2:20 north of me, and time is something I have to spare. Money? Nah, but time I have! At 31 and in good shape, I was just the one that could help them with their big stuff (furniture, tools, reloading supplies).

I met his wife for the first time and set foot in his house before him. They’re retired age, and honestly, most my friends are. So I thought nothing of it.

Well on the Levergun forum, a member told me I made his nice-list and GRACIOUSLY sent me these flavors to sample and see what my rifle likes!

People’s generosity towards others astound me! I have had only a smattering of conversation with my Santa, but gift me they did.

Aways nice to get a serving of humble pie. Thank you!

Here in the New Year, after more time on the trigger, I am going to do a couple videos on ammo testing / groups for prosperity sake. I am curious about different ammo selection and I figure there is at least one other person as well!
