Another idea on the ill-fitting breech block - I've actually seen this one before!

If the gun has been triggered off at some point, that can bend the long cocking link. This makes it slightly shorter, and prevents the breech from fully rotating back into position.

A non-standard piston - or one with a longer-than-original seal on the front, etc. - can cause a similar issue.

I've also seen where the fixed chisel detent is brazed in rotated and the breech sits up on the high corner.

I guess it's possible to damage the forks by triggering off but that's a low powered gun and I've seen a few higher power guns triggered off that broke and bent everywhere else but there. Some of Weihrauch's fork plug installations are less than elegant. Internally they can be down right ugly but they're generally very strong.

When the barrel bends due to the piston breaking off ( triggering off ) the barrel sticks up, not down.There are only two options here: either the barrel is not original, or someone tried to repair the wear in the hinge ineptly. In any case, the road to Gunsmith. Anything else is unlikely.

I well aware of what happens from up flying barrels. I never said it had anything to do with droop. Give me a little credit. I was only addressing the suggestion the fork fit might be a result of it.

That's exactly what I thought - the fork died from work and they tried to revive it.

perhaps it was triggered off and the previous owner put on a different barrel? Or bent the barrel back. For what it’s worth, here is a video of Paul Watts fixing an R7 that was triggered off and bent the breach forks up slightly.

First of all I have to say thanks for all the input. Fascinating
Most my guns are new with needs of cleaning deburring and new spring and perhaps piston seal. I think I can handle that.
I picked up a few older guns to gain some experience on other repairs. Kinda bummed out. Quickly realize without machinery I’m euchred. Thought about it, but I’m too old to buy machinery. Way beyond my capabilities. So, this is way over. I have 3 of these guns now. They shoot but don’t seem right. Crow

I wonder if that is an economy version gun made for the non US market, using the less expensive rear sight than we were getting in the US by 1972, and if it's a "club gun" that is very heavily used, with all the blue worn off the barrel and receiver?

For many years the HW 50 was made in two versions. The cheaper "HW 50M" typically had the simple signts and Perfekt trigger, and the upmarket "HW 50S" had the better sights and Rekord, but it was easy enuff to mix'n'match parts. There were also upgrade stocks available. Air Rifle HQ was the biggest US importer in those days and had both versions.

I would kindly request 2 or 3 pics of the action taken out of the stock, including 1 or 2 with the breech fully open. That would limit the number of dumb suggestions I can make, LOL!

The rear sight adjustment screw is wrong thread. It will only turn 1/4 turn. Crow

If I remember correctly some trigger assembly parts were crushed. I got the trigger from UK.
