I watched some Brit on Youtube that discouraged doing that and said that the performance was not matched to the new configuration and the gun did not shoot well. Actually, he was talking about an HW30. He suggested putting about 1/8 inch of neatsfoot oil in a dish and standing the piston up in it with the leather submerged for 24 hours. The leather would absorb the oil and restore itself. Mind you, I know nothing about this, just passing it on. You might want to cruise through some of the UK airgun forums.
