HW30S O-Ring Tune / Tune Kit ?

Will be picking up a HW30s in .177 soon for some short distance pesting. Looking at doing a Vortek kit on it to bump the power a little bit. But, also saw mention of a o-ring tune done by Ed Canoles where guys were gettting in the mid 600's w/ 8+ grain pellets.

Can anybody shed some light on their experience? Thanks!

I installed a Vortex kit in one of my .177 HW30's. The shot cycle is smoother, faster & maybe even a bit quieter. However, there was no change in muzzle velocity. I'm still really happy with the kit and will eventually put the Vortek kit in my other rifles. I'm not familiar with the mentioned o-ring tune. Good Luck.

Instead of a parachute style piston seal an Oring is adapted to the piston either by adding an adapter with a groove for the O-ring or machining an O-ring groove into the piston.
Here's an adapter from Vortek's site-quite a few springer field target guys use them.

John, that's exactly it. I actually contacted Vortek after being told by an forum member on another board they made the o-ring piston for the HW30. However, that is not the case. They only make a synthetic seal and replacment spring kit for that rifle.

Plus one for parallax. My buddy and I each bought one from AOA last year. I installed a vortex kit in his. It is smoother , more quiet but did not pick up any muzzle velocity. It is very pleasant to shoot thought.
