HW100. Regal, or S510... Help me decide

I just had a Huma regulator installed in a AA Sl400 in 177. It was a pleasure before the regulator but the upgrade and "tune" really helped. I shoot 40 shots at 870FPS and then refill. I should test the shots per fill, but I usually only have enough concentration for 40 shots offhand. I shoot silhouette, and I usually shoot at 38 yards. From the bench I can it a dime every time.

I had an unregulated Regal and it was a pig. I had to send that one back to AOA, and that was a PIA. The Regal in my opinion is too light, and the shot count was poor. Mine had a bad barrel or something because I had 3 inch group at 30 yards with different pellets. Naturally that was a manufacturing error and that happens, but it never felt solid to hold, and that is my taste.

Before I had my AA400 upgraded I was going to get a HW 100, but I was a bit afraid of the reliability based on research or I would have bought one. But it was on my short list.

In the end, I am pretty happy with the 400 bucks (I think that was the cost) of the upgrade. I am thinking of buying a factory regulated AA500 just for the dual gauge, but the cost is pretty high on those. I owned an embarrassing amount of nice airguns, and for the money the AA400/500 is probably my favorite.

My unregulated Daystate Regal XL .22. with a Hawke Air Max scope .One of my best 10 shot groups shooting JSB 15 .89. outside at 50 yards. Plenty accurate and I can get around 45 shots before it starts to fade on accuracy. Haven't shot either of the other two. A friend bought the Regal XL in .22 regulated after shooting mine and his is also very accurate. His is supposed to be a tad better being regulated but that's still debatable.

Mike

I've owned an older AA S500 and it was a fine gun. I've shot the older Daystate Huntsman and it was a great gun. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three rifles you mentioned.

But after getting my Thomas and shooting the .177 13.4 grain monsters at 820 fps, I just fell in love with the .177 JSB monsters.

I sold an older .177 Marauder with an upgraded LW barrel and Philip who bought it from me has had great success in FT with it shooting the monsters. He's won many local matches with it.

I wasn't even aware that it would shoot the Monsters back when I had it in 2015? Haha, knowing what I know now, I would probably have kept it! LOL

Recently I bought an older .177 FX Logun Solo with LW barrel that just loves the 13 gr monsters. So, it's a keeper.

If I were you, I would contact Ken Hicks at SPAW and see what he has to say about the Huma regulated Brocock Sniper. If he could tune one to shoot the Monsters at 800 to 820 fps, that would be the route I would go.

I saw where Socaloldman mentioned the Brocock Bantam which would also be a great gun to look into.

Just throwing some ideas your way. Good luck and let us know how things work out for ya.

how did you fit huma to hw100? i dont see their regs on official site

Hello Tsakula it is a custom setup by hw100tuning.com it is installed on the inside of the titanium cylinder in the endcap very efficient setup. I installed option #4 cylinder and pre chamber system in mine 6 months ago best thing for the hw100k 16" barrel mine is setup at 20ft lb reg is set at 100bar and it gets filled to 250 bar and I get 7mags or 98 shots before it comes off of reg 196cc between cylinder prechamber space. All the info about the setup is on there website.

Well.. I was all set to buy a Daystate Regal, but I didn't. Here's my story.

I had made a .177 bottle gun. I used it for a year at 10 yards. Recently I moved to new home that allowed shooting at 22 yards. At the longer range it just didn't have the accuracy I wanted. I fought it for a while, but couldn't fix it. So, I bought the Crown. It was a turd for accuracy, and I sent it back.

Before I bought the Regal, I decided to try and rework the barrel breech end on my home made gun. I recut it and milled rather than drilled the transfer port. I then really carefully deburred the transfer port. This really did the trick. It now shoots at 22 yards and makes one hole slightly larger than the pellet. My Crown couldn't come close to this.

I still may buy the Regal, but for now it's on hold.

Here's my home built rifle.
