HW100 Low Power

Hello all,

I have just bought a used HW100, i was told it was 3 months old... on inspection MFR date being 2015, ffs.

When i went to collect it i fired two through my FX Mk1 Chrony and i read a 11.2ft LB.

However... a week later and a refill i put an assortment of pellets through and i ranged from 8.8Ft Lb on some JSB Magnum and max of 10.9 on some lightweight jobbies.
I want to be using JSB diablos but they was 10.4.

Before i start messing with it, are there any pointers for me to be looking at?

I have just bought a full seal kit and an antitamper replacement kit with new spring but thought i would ask for advice before taking it to bits.

Many thanks

Mart

Its normal for new airguns sold in the UK to run in the mid to late 10's. As you probably know the heavier the pellet the higher the ft/lbs, and manufactures air on the side of caution.

Its been a long time since ive shot a sub 12, but I suspect if you shot the heaviest available ( I guess bisley magnums?? ) you may see 11.5 to 11.7. Just below the legal limit.

The 10.9 you were seeing with light pellets kinda confirms this ( unless you are saying the gun is giving inconsistent readings?)

Seems strange that the rifle was manufactured in 2015 but described as 3 months old. Guess that it could have been sitting in stock at the vendor.

I have a pair of HW100 FAC rifles (.177 & .22) and they are my favorites.as they are both very consistent. If the rifle is in fact only 3 months old it may just be a case of breaking it in.

With any airgun, after a quick check to get a baseline velocity, I always allow a tin or two before considering any serious testing and choosing a pellet. I'd say that unless there is a leak or some other obvious issue it would be best to shoot it a bit before becoming concerned.

Fine rifle! Best of luck!
