Tuning HW rear sight fillers

Hey folks,

What is everbody using to fill the screw hole left when removing the rear sight on a HW break barrel (HW 80 in this case)?

I’ve seen some people find these little black plastic caps at hardware stores. I once had a Remington model 788 bolt action rifle which was a good accurate gun but had horrible sites on it, so I took them off and went to a gun store and bought little set screws that took a regular screwdriver and they fit flush. It gave the barrel a good clean look. I was going to use the gun scoped anyway.

I have not done this myself yet but I remember a suggestion to remove only the rear sight blade and leave the rest of the sight unit attached. No screw holes and it looks nice.

At one time Beeman made a filler plate and screws to cover up the slot and holes. Have one on my R1, but bought that 25 yrs back, not sure if they are still availiable...

Melt a black crayon into the holes and cut it off flush with a razor blade. 

You can melt it back out later if you don't want it in there.

Just look at set screws...probably 3 or 4 mm metric threads. Should be readily availiable in hex head or slotted head type.

They’re a proprietary non typical metric thread. Not gonna find them in Home Depot.
