HW 55 front sight

I have a HW 55 and decided to put the peep sights back on it. I know the back sight is correct, but the front sight is to short and not enough adjustment on the back sight. Do I have the wrong front sight is there suppose to be a riser on the front sight ? Never mind I just went ahead and bent the barrel, . I did shoot it in the garage, but it is to close, and I believe it will be close enough until I can get somewhere to sight it in.

Should be standard HW front sights on the 55's.

I've never seen a separate riser on an HW front sight. I'm guessing this will not be relevant to your issue, but for the record there was some height variation on older ones.

The top sight in the pic below is from a 1956 HW 55T with a barrel sleeve. The sight has front and rear threaded sleeves, and the center of the tunnel is 20 mm above the bore.

The middle sight is from a 1955 HW 55S. It's similar, but with a single sleeve and is centered 22 mm above the bore.

The bottom sight, with shorter angled base, would be the same on any 55 made since about 1960. It is centered 24 mm above the bore.

All three sights fit the same barrel groove spacing, take the same metal inserts, and have the same M17 sleeve thread (17.0 x 0.5 mm).
