Hurt my fingers... but still deadly on rats

On Friday just before lunch a table saw blade at work kissed the index and middle fingers of my shooting hand. The lacerations look worse than they feel. A sucky way to end the work week for sure. Had to make sure that my trigger finger was still working. So went to the dairy today to distract myself. Noticed some activity under one of the feed carts at 25 yards and lined up a shot on a mouse. When I went to retrieve the body there were two mice down. My first double on rodents. Shot two more deeper under the same feed cart using the green light on my gun. If they don’t alert to the light they’re done. The first smaller rat was at 42 yards, it was facing right. I saw it take the JSB Exact Jumbo 18 very hard, just rolled over dead! The big rat was at 15 yards, noticed some hay being pushed out from a long gap in a wall. After watching for ten minutes, I finally had a headshot. After that I was getting cold and it was time to go home for some nursing (bandage changes for the digits) from the wife. Hoping to bag a few more before the year rolls out.

Ouch that is nasty!!! Good you got the rats sorry bout the fingers though. It hurts just lookin at them.

I tried to cut a little more off of my trigger finger than that. You know what's worth doing is worth doing well. But I only cut partway through the finger so now there is a scar where the trigger sits on my finger, Yuck.

Be well and be careful

Wow you were lucky. I worked with a guy that cut four of his fingers completely off on a tablesaw. Most people would’ve said hell with the rats for now. I’m going to bandage these Fingers up first.

Did not go pesting with open wounds...🙀 Image of fingers was prior to bandage change afterwards at home. I was in an emergency room within an hour of my accident.

It's a real nice table saw that stops and retracts the blade in milliseconds if your flesh contacts the blade. If you'd have had that, all you would have had was a tiny little nick on one of your fingers. It's well worth the added cost over a traditional saw, just in hospital and insurance alone, not to mention the pain factor.

I found out about it a day or two after I did something like you just did. I call it my "snub-nose finger". We bought it within a week. It's saved my fingers twice in ~15 years since then.

They're real nice saws, too. A joy to use. Real, real nice.

I feel for you, buddy. I've been there myself.

God help you.

Yikes Luis! Close one man. Protect those digits. Was this a did you cut yourself on a benchtop/jobsite type saw or was it a contractor or cabinet saw? I don't have one but that SawStop that was linked up above is certainly worth a look. I often think I should get one....

Great shooting man! Love hearing about the rodents getting popped. Nasty little creatures. 😣
