Hunting Venues Needed

Hi Guys,

It sure would be nice if I could hunt more.

How do you guys find places to hunt?

Pigeons at farms, etc. General pesting.

Do you drive the countryside and knock on doors?

Besides that, do you guys travel for iguana or ground squirrel hunts?

Need to put these awesome air guns to work.

I got extremely lucky. I didn't have an airgun last sunmer. A friend of mine placed an ad on Craigslist for anyone having a problem with crows. She was helping me find places to crow hunt. A dairy farmer replied and within a week I was shooting crows over hundreds of acres of corn fields.

After the corn was cut and the crows went away, he asked me if I could shoot the pigeons there. Initally I shot them with shotgun, then rimfire, then I bought my first air rifle.

I've been shooting there and on other farms in that area on a weekly basis. I've shot over 200 pigeons and over 400 starlings. This summer has brought raccoons, skunks and woodchucks. Hopefully I'll get to bag a couple of coyotes soon.

If that property was to go away for some reason, I'd probably drive around and get addresses of farms and mail letters to them offering my "services". If I was to stop at any properties in person, I would certainly have a flyer or letter, or business cards made up to leave with them.

My first two I pulled in and asked both farmers .One Guy was wicked scrad for his new tin roof .I actually had to prove I could shoot 2 dead pigeons did the trick . The 3rd was a referral.

Some people list their services on Craigslist. There is a guy in New Mexico, whose add I have seen several times.

Once you get a farm and you clean it they tell all their friends and you have more work than a fellow can handle. I took on a 2000 acre commercial tree and agricultural farm and eradicated it of Starling piegons and silo rats by second year. Now I get calls from different people in the area. Crows, grackle, opossum and corn destroying coons. You get the drift. Problem is when you get a call out the pressure is on for your abilities to shine. Good luck on your quest for permissions.

I stop at all dairies & feed lots & and anywhere else I see a quantity of birds. I went in cold on this one feed lot and did such a good sell job, he asked me at the end, “do I pay you or do you pay me”. I told him I would like to get paid but I would do it for free. Got the job. Got to be willing to put up with flies and the STINK!
