Hunting hits using PBR. Quick, accurate shots.

No, Not Pabst Blue Ribbon , it's Point blank range sight- in. Since most of my hunting is in the woods, a 75yd shot is sorta rare. 50yds or less is more likely. But this PBR sight -in method will make 100yd shots easier also. A PBR calculator will tell you the range you can shot without hold-over. You will need to choose a target size, ( kill zone). For squirrel, I use 2". This will keep the projectile to +1" high to 1" low for a range of yardage. In other words, if I shoot down a 2" pipe, how far will travel before it falls out of the pipe? My PBR allows me to head shoot a squirrel upto 63yds with no hold over. At 100yds I need 2.5 mils elevation. Use G1 for drag. Have fun with this, it surely makes things easier.

i use much the same method but with chairgun .. 2" is too much for an accurate shot on small critters, so i keep it to about .6" ... still, typical deadnuts range is about 12-45 and mileage may vary depending in velocity, scope height, angle of attack etc ... then depending on how well you know the gun you can stretch the range out more .. ive gotten better at it .. critters anywhere within 60y or so usually wont survive the first shot ..

Actually 2" is very accurate for head shots on tree rats. It's the difference of centering on the eye or lower jaw. Remember the pipe is 2" requiring only 1" of correction. My .243 is centered at 215yds and reaches 332 yds with no hold over. 4" pipe. Your .6 pipe only results is a 30yd window. Way too limiting and negates the purpose. This is based on a BC of .035 ( JSB 18.1). But, to each their own.

I'm with you on this. I use .5" in Chairgun. A tree squirrel does NOT have a 2" kill zone in the head, at least none that I've ever seen. Of course we don't have zombie squirrels around me.

Agree that 2" is way too much for airgun use. I try to stay around 1/2 to 5/8 inch maximum high on POI. This method has been around for a long time and is easily set up without use of a program.
