I'm not sure if this goes here or hunting gate or optics but I'm asking for opinions/options for a cheap cam for my bait station.

Looking for a wifi cam that's motion activated and has night vision. Something that will send an alert to my phone via an app to tell me when I have a squirrel or raccoon at my station. I bought a cheap one off ebay that is worthless, but 11 bucks I guess I should've known.

What are some decent options that are under say 50 bucks that'll fill the bill? Needs to be weather proof and also able to record.

Thanks

Good luck at that price. I used a motion detector with no video that drove me crazy with all the sparrows and finches.
Wi-fi, motion detected, night vision, recording..........that is not an under $50 thing if you want quality.
Ok, well I know some people use ring doorbell things. Don't need the best quality, I can tell the difference between a coon and a tree rat lol. Just need something to tell me when they are there so I can stay warm til they show up! Also, so I can learn the raccoons parrerns vs sitting all night waiting.

A coworker of mine purchased a motion camera with color, notifications, solar panel, night vision, remote control for moving the camera gimbal, recording, microphone so you can yell/curse/say hello to the intruder, etc from Amazon. He has it mounted above his garage and I have seen it in action on his phone while we are at work and the house is 15 miles away. Very impressive quality for cheap. I think he told me it was 70$. Unfortunately I do not know the brand name.
Look on Amazon though.

It will give you a a still shot notification without a subscription. You have to hit playback to watch the video. You can name your price and get a video notification. I'm currently paying $2.50 a month for 6 cameras. That is total, not each.
This are wired cameras, how long of a cord to they have? My shooting station is 35 yards from the nearest power source.

Not $50, but I have an Arlo system that came with 5 cameras as part of my home security. The cameras are battery operated and are easy to move around. They are on my WiFi at home and alert to my phone when the motion sensor goes off. I used it once when there was a Coon raiding my deer corn bin.
*Well, looks like they have some new options. This One is only $80 and is a standalone system I think

I can spend more, but I set my expectations low since it's very common on this forum to say I want X and everyone says "you meant FX!" And then I would be told I need a $1500 camera to tell me I have a squirrel to shoot.

I’m actually guilty as charged, as they only came with a base station before. In my case worth it because it served dual purposes. I have 5 cameras looking around the whole house, but will “borrow” one when needed. Seems they have more offerings now. Glad I posted & looked, learned something myself. Based on my experience, I can recommend it. They work decently enough & $80 isn’t bad.

Awesome thank you, I will have a look. I might just get a few for the house anyways.

I use one similar that I use to notify me of rat activity in my back yard. Uses wifi to send push notifications to my phone. You can view live feed, take video amd has infra-red capabilities....can even talk back and forth. Wireless.
