Yes, FX did make one, the Independence. In fact, I've got mine up for sale right now. But, I had mine converted to shoot both arrows and pellets. Really awesome rifles! FX accuracy and quality without the "need" for an air supply. They are, understandably, a bit on the heavy and bulky side. And, yeah, it wasn't $400. Todays price is $1600. I think I paid 1800 when I got mine.

Love the concept! You're basically getting a pumper rifle with a reservoir. I am curious about the accuracy on the Seneca/Nova. Would love to hear from someone that actually has one about this.

It is a heavy gun. I was considering a 22 but based on online reviews with less than stellar accuracy, I decided on getting a 177 and it is a tack driver. Nothing with wings is safe out to 60 yards which is the longest distance I shot it so far. Trigger seems to be on the heavy side but haven't tried to adjust it yet. The most surprising thing about this gun is that the pumping effort is so easy it is unbelievable! It is not like pumping a Benjamin 392 or even a 1322 at all, it is much easier to pump this thing. Seems a bit too easy like it is broken but it pumps up and does not progressively get harder with each and every subsequent strokes. I would say it is like pumping your Benjamin 392 on the first pump, maybe even less than that but every stroke feels just like that not any more harder to pump. I just pump to 3000psi and shoot a magazine and pump couple of times and can see the manometer going up with each pump only a few needed to bring it back to 3000.

It is rated to 3600 but I don't want to stress the o-rings and seals since I know there were reports of the pump locking up or failing or leaking in the past. Probably from over filling IMO.

It is definitely not like pumping a hand pump to fill up your PCPs. I would say it is 1000 times easier.

Maybe more than a thousand times easier because it only takes a few very easy strokes to get it back up.

It is not even a workout it is like pumping a toy. If this gun had been released before I bought my first PCP with hand pump, I would have never bought other PCPs nor a hand pump and would have saved a lot of money by just owning this one gun.

I can't comment on longevity because it IS made in CHINA. But for now I believe this is the start of a whole new ball game because of its price point and independence from any other required air source. The only thing I can see room for improvement is having it regulated but that would require a larger air cylinder than 50cc which would add length and weight but at the moment not necessary if you pump as you go as I have been doing after each 10 shot magazine which is consistent enough to accurately shoot at 60 yards with.

i don't think the 22 caliber version can compete with the 177 in the accuracy department.

If I were to buy a 22 then I would have the barrel replaced with a Lothar Walther for sure.

Hopefully Crosman is next in this new game.

I have a Nova Freedom in the 22 version, and I am very happy with it. Many hole in one shots.

Yes, it is accurate. I've only shot out to 70 yards at this time, but I am very impressed.

One thing I had to do was check ALL of the screws. Remove the barrel shroud, stock, and foregrips. Then check that all screws are tight! 

Be sure to check the three screws on the top of the breech block that hold the barrel in place. Mine were all loose. 

The trick to this rifle is to run it around 2500 to 2600 PSI. I take 2 shots and pump 4 to 5 pumps to keep it in that pressure range. It shoots the Crosman 14.3 grain hollow points very well. Have not tried other pellets yet.

No complaints except the initial pump up from storage pressure (500 to 1000 PSI) to the 2600 PSI range I like to run it at.
