Huge black bear...

I was plinking out to 102 yards this evening. Took a break just sitting when I noticed a huge bear at my 50 yard targets. My Jack Russell Riley scared it away before I could get a proper photo. I seen dozens of bears since living here. This one was huge at least 300 pounds. The black blob in the image is the bear ambling away.

Dont shoot him ! That will only make him angry 😊

That's why they tell ya in Alaska to file the front sight off your .44😉

I've had black bear on my property, too. Last year one bent a galvanized pole I had stuck in the ground for a bird feeder. Sunflower seeds are like crack to a bear. I learned my lesson. No feeding the birds till hibernation.

My garbage box gets attacked 2-3 times a year. The top was in very good condition. I’ve had bears drag it 50 yds. in the woods and make a mess. I made this box super strong with deck screws and a 5/8 dowel for hinge, lasted 10 years till last week. They tore it apart, you can see teeth marks in top. Unbelievable power. Now that plastic is like steel. Don’t want to piss them off.

I don't get the front sight reference. Is it to make it less painful for you when the bear takes it away from you?

Not positive, but I think you file the front site off so you can pull it out of your holster quicker.

there’s something about a bear 🐻 that stirs the imagination. Even though black bears are really very mild animals, I sure wouldn’t want to be attacked by one.

I once came around thicket, and found myself 25-30 feet from a black bear with babies… I was carrying a single shot 20 gage…Man did I feel outgunned. I am mediately decided if she attacked I had to wait till she was less than 10 feet away, and go right for the forehead. Thank God I didn’t have to test my theory. It wasn’t one of those little girls, this was a 300 pounder easy.

Very cool post.

My wife and I put many miles in on a tandem bicycle on our local roads, one year we spotted eight black bears while riding. One particular bear we encountered as we were cresting a hill and quite winded. It was crossing the road in front of us and appeared very unconcerned with us. It did hang around longer than I was comfortable with and I yelled and it ambled away. This area is blessed with lots of critters.

As Crocodile Dundee said, That's not a bear, this is a bear lol...

Dang that's a mean looker there...And it's on the wrong side of the fence it looks like. Glad I don't have to deal with those critters here in TN. Well, middle TN anyways. I have watched a number of trail cam videos that record for a year's worth. Lots of bears up north on those captures. Couldn't believe how big those moose were too. Southern raised is why.
