Huben Hammerless K1

Get back to your own channel Gregor😉, you are NEEDED there.

An Email I received from Huben suggested they are studying a Poly Barrel, One wonders with their new Factory move they may put some upgrades into the .25, The K1 at the moment is certainly thin on the ground, in Europe anyway they are like the proverbial Hens Teeth.

Please Gentlemen and Ladies, more Huben K1 related posts/info.

I really love this gun and I really love the Nomad II. After dealing with a Yong Heng for a time I am grateful to have something that is so quiet and no stupid bucket of water.

I am surprised by how powerful the Huben is... it has turned the spoons on my Crossman target concave. I am used to a .177 Gamo I bought for under $100.

The pellets pretty much disintegrate when they strike the target. The lower one was dug out of my bowling pin the top ones are from the Crossman. The pellets I like best are JSB Diablo Heavies.

I am getting a little over 4500 psi. The gauge on the pump goes up to 5000. But I don't want to press my luck. With the Yong Heng I was getting just below 5000 psi. But it would take quite a while because the pump would dramatically heat up to over 80 degrees Celsius. So you would have to shut the pump down and let the heat exchanger cycle water to cool down at least twice to get near 4500 psi.

I ordered a manometer and male Foster fitting combo from Airguns for Patriots at least 3 weeks ago. But I haven't heard anything from them yet. So I have no real way to tell what the actual cylinder pressure is, only what the pump pressure is. Huben sells a front gauge fill port for 45 USD plus shipping.

There is a big cost difference. But I would avoid the Yong Heng. It is loud, messy, iffy 220v to 110v wiring, and leaks oil into the cooling water and air- and into your gun. I ended up filing a claim on Ebay to get my money back. They gave me a full refund and made them pay return shipping.

I hope this helps.

To be fair I should point out that the moisture removal solution on the Nomad II isn't great. Besides not being able to fill an air bottle this is the pumps only drawback. I almost bought the Air Force pump. But it was even more money and fills slower.

The Nomad is more than suitable for my needs.

I did make a moisture separator out of molecular sieve from Moisture Boss and a cheap aluminum steel tube I bought on Ebay. I heard Airgun Scientist Joe Brancato talk about how the sieve makes sulfuric acid so it needs to be contained inside a vinyl tube... But I contacted the manufacturer and they said they weren't aware of this happening under any circumstances.

Either way the tube I brought is powder coated on the inside, and I added activated charcoal to the sieve to neutralize any possible acids.

The picture is kind of blurry. But I can provide more photos and information if you're interested.

Hi to all.

Wanted to let you know that I have been doing some experiments and giving tips to Huben regarding barrel selection. Right now I have unchoked poly barrel on the .25 and it shoot pellets excellent (JSB king heavy). I tested them at 70 meters and I get one hole group. I am also using choked poly on the .22 cal and it also performs well, but still prefers slugs, probably because of the magazine design that has grooves that do not fir the poly barrels. I also started to work on mold version 3 fro K1. The main purpose is to get good accuracy with the .25 cal but I will also probably make it for .22. MP molds will be offering them as usually but I do not have any ETA. I also know I am way overdue on my youtube and will get back to it as soon as I sort everything out.

the choked .22 prefers slugs, the unchoked .25 prefers pellets😵, a question (to anyone) from an amateur , why can the barrel manufacturers not make a barrel with a removeable choke.

You could probably do it but it would be difficult to precisely line up the rifling and do so with a minimal seam. It's not hard to do on shotguns because they're smooth bore.

We are having excellent luck with the Huben here in Indiana. I ordered one first, then ordered 2 more for friends and my Dad. We really like them for hunting. Getting great accuracy with the Redesign JSB 25gr. .22cal pellet @ 905fps and 95 shots per 300bar fill. Mine has taken 50 crows this past season and squirrel season just started. I sold all my other .22cal. air rifles this thing is a blast to shoot.

I am waiting on two of these, I was told they had to replace their milling machine so they got behind. Regards, Tom

I seem to recall a report form one of the gun shows (iwa , shot show ect) in the last year or so, the report was on barrels that came in pieces, they screwed back into one with the rifling sitting perfect, maybe I was dreaming, I do dream a lot, but if not then a barrel that had a removable last inch or two (containing a choke) must be doable.

thanks Queequeg for your response.

I'm doing some chipmunk hunting today. I am still getting used to a mildot scope. I was taking a shot at about 20 feet. I didn't realize that I had to holdover about 2 mildots at that distance. 8) The chipmunk was sitting in the Y and I hit 2 inches low.

I did better with my next 2 shots...

Are we allowed to post hunting photos here?

It says about no violence in the rules. But not specifically no hunting.

I got my MP Mold today. I forgot to buy the tongs to hold the mold closed so I only made a few bullets. I just melted some lead on the stove. Most of the ones I made were rejects. But I did manage to get about 10 good ones to shoot.

I am going to get a Lee melter so I have an easier, safer time doing this.

The bullets hit nice and hard so I look forward to getting some more consistent results when I get the right equipment.

@khilji I melted down a tin of H&N Grizzly slugs that were not great for the Huben. They were too short and fit too loose. If you point the gun at the ground they slide forward and make it so the magazine would not index.... so I melted them.

I have the 6.35 mm /.25 caliber K1. I first shot 1 round by it's self to test and then loaded the other 9 good ones I had and rapid-fire them into the back of an old TV in the back yard with no gun rest. But they seemed accurate enough to me.Â
