Huben Huben GK1 Target Groups (photo thread)

I get 1 inch at 50m with the .25 GK1, with 6 baffles of Impulse Air IA 1200. It widens to 2-3 inches at 50m with my other moderators - the Huggett Standard and some Weihrauchs. This is with 25grain JSBs set at 870 fps.

It might be possible to do 0.5 inches at 50m with a better bypod attachment, the ones that are on the trigger guard like mine move too much because the trigger guard itself is not very well attached to the receiver; it needs to straddle the air tank and to actually attach on the 11mm rail on top.
@JDGriz This is a photo thread. Can you post some photos of your targets?

I shot this when I first got my GK1. This is at 10 yards off-hand with the factory iron sights shooting JSB 18gr at 637 fps average. I need more practice as well and it doesn't help that my eyes have gone bad over the years. I was using my reading glasses to focus on the front sight. Getting old sucks!!!

@B low that's not how this site works. Please abide by the rules. If you chose not to, please don't violate the AGN site rules in a thread that I started thread. The following link contains the AGN rules regarding buying and selling airguns and related items.

Okay I just became a member yesterday trying to figure how to buy my first pcp! So we aren't allowed to buy except by pm?

@B low The link I sent you contains the answers to your questions. It's a great guide and may save you some headaches later. The way you are starting out here makes you vulnerable to predators. Give it a read and have patience. If you still have questions I'll do what I can to help.

@B low No worries. Stick around, have a little patience, and take some time to get to know some members. If you haven't created a "I'm new here" post or thread in the "General Discussion" forum, this would be a good time to introduce yourself. Then you'll probably find a few topics that interest you or you may have questions after doing more reading within the forums. I'm usually around here somewhere. If I like you and I can help, I usually will try. Welcome to AGN.

Hey! Okay and thanks for all the tips! Guess you are my first friend on here. That is, if you like me 😂

^^^ GK1 .25 with a folding stock, JSB 25gr set to 900-910 fps, distance is 50.0m, shooting from sandbags, using a red dot sight (the dot ends up being roughly the size of the 7 ring, the black part of the targets is 66mm across). 5 shot groups, CTC distance is 12mm (0.47"), other than the one flier in both cases, which is me forgetting to put pressure on the stock every first shot... I think.

I am a bit surprised how well the red dot worked, and how not very enjoyable 24x was, even though you can't actually see the hits with the red dot.

How did you make your sight adjustment? I understand right or left but not up or dow. I’m very new to the Gk1.

@Rwcrawford58 The screw that goes through the rear sight on top of the rear portion of the receiver adjusts the elevation. There is a small spring below the rear sight. Turning this screw raises and lowers the rear sight, thus adjusting your elevation. I suggest starting out making slight turns.

Thanks for your input and advice.

Whoa
Never seat a pellet. READ ALL THE MANY THREADS ON THIS SUBJECT.
Whoa! Really? Why? OK, I'll do a search but I've been reading a LOT of GK1 posts and don't remember coming across one. In fact, a few days ago, there were a couple of posters who said they got better accuracy, noticeably so, when seating pellets. Thanks for the warning. I'll have to find the posts.

I have explained this beforeseveral times. I will repeat this explanation again one more time. Both the K1 and the GK1 are revolvers. All revolvers require a magazine retention mechanism. In the case of powder burners, it is the flanged cartridge case. In the case of the K1 and GK1 it is the chamfered mouth of each magazine bore. If you measure a pellet, you will find that the skirt is about .010"{ larger than the pellet head. It is the oversize skirt that is held by the chamfer. Both the oversize skirt and chamfer is the retention mechanism. If slugs are used they must be larger than the magazine bore and that friction is the mechanism, , but that makes slug size very critical. Escentially, the guns are designed for Diabolo pellets not slugs. I use exclusively JSB pellets in my GK1s. recently tried H&N pellets and they had same size heads and skirts. So beware they rattled around in the magazine!

If you look up YT vids by Gregor K he recomends seating the pellets all the way for best accuracy

I think Kelly at Krazcool agrees as he sent a pellet seating pen with my last gun purchase:):)
Like most things in life, compromises must usually be made everywhere. Revolvers are no exception. In rifles bullet jump after ignition is controlled by limiting the headspace when cutting the chamber to just a few thousands of an inch. The shorter the bullet jump the lesser the shock of striking the rifling because the bullet is traveling slower. That, if great enough will upset the bullet's balance which causes inaccuracy. A revolver has more issues that must be dealt with as well, like magazine alignment to the barrel and the physical difference in projectile length in relation to the length of the magazine's bore. Revolvers use a forcing cone at the mouth of the barrel to compensate for magazine misalignment, that extra length causes a longer bullet jump. Add that to a potential magazine length difference with a bullet and that jump and subsequent shock becomes even greater. For example, yes you can shoot 38 special cartridges in a 357 magnum pistol, but because of the greater distance the bullet must travel, the 38 special is not as accurate as the same bullet loaded to a 357 case. Well, the same rule also applies to the K1 and GK1,but we are dealing with much lower pressures and lower velocity, so yes, Greg is correct, but is this issue significant? I regularly use the 25.4 grain JSB pellet in 25 cal GK1s and they are much shorter than the magazine's bore, but the guns still shoot one ragged hole at 25 meters from a rest and I off hand usually hold a 1" group at that same distance.

Let me give to you another example this with an air gun. In the earlier models of the FX air rifles, they used smooth bore barrels that were only rifled at the very end of the barrel. Pellet jump was many inches, yet they were amazingly accurate.
