I'm thinking about how to regulate pressure out of a 13 oz. co2 bottle to the 1000 (or less) psi to:
1. Get more consistent fps in hot weather.
2. Avoid valve lock in high temperatures.
I realize that co2 molecules are larger than HPA and shots may need to either have more time between them or the regulator may need adjustment tweaks to get the pressure correct.
It seems to me since the regulator is just springs and "washers" that it should work mechanically even though co2 is in 2 phases (gas and liquid).
I realize the regulator has to go on a co2 bottle and not on a HPA bottle. (Just reducing the arguments here.)
I don't believe I'm running any danger here as long as the regulator uses a co2 burst disc.
I'm not sure you can back-fill through a regulator since a co2 bottle is generally filled through the same hole the co2 later exits.
Anybody thought about this or tried it?
I'm trying to avoid going down the whole nitrous oxide regulator route which appears to be what most co2 regulators are based on.
Of course, the response I get from most paintball shops is "HPA only" on the regulators.
