How Wrong is this?

Well I'm still trying different scope mount combinations on my FWB300s. The scope I want to use is an Aztec 3-18X. The problems I'm facing are: 1) this combo requires the scope be mounted about 1+1/2" farther forward than my 1 piece droop mount will allow (room for loading with fat thumb) and, 2) trying to keep scope height low enough for a decent cheek weld. My amature solution was to take a low, extended d.t. to pic 1 piece mount, clamp it in a padded vice and greatly tap the extended end down a wee bit with a rubber mallet Crude but seemingly effective. When installed, scope is now forward enough to make loading easier, scope height is low enough for acceptable cheek weld, vertical turret is no longer maxed out and the gun shoots great! Seems too simple to be a proper solution - what do you all think?
