How would you do this?

The gun club I am visiting, the setup is not really airgun friendly :)
Usually I am shooting at two 100 meter ranges, the first picture tenants are mostly the centerfire folks, the second picture is a 22LR silhouettes range.
As we can see, I am coming down from a higher level, this structure is closed except the front and right side. The problem with it - is a tail wind. The air runs over the roof and dumps all the swirling in the middle, I cannot read it from my flags. Not much better with a face wind, as we can see behind the targets panel a high ground again.

The 22LR 100 meter range again same situation with front and tail wind plus this safe barier in front about 10-15 yard above the head makes a real whirlpool in front of me, also the treeline from both sides...

I started only recently placing out my wind pointers, but pretty much useless, because I have a lot of up-down wind pressure.

This arrow shows the wind is coming - somewhere from right, but it is actually running from behind and jumping from above my head to the ground filling this "crater". And because I am sitting inside a partially closed structure, I feel the air moves but I cannot pinpoint from where. As we can see the grass didn't started growing yet, no leafs on branches.

The 50 meters range is similar, but the 200-300 meters range is a real mind challenging setup, much narrower and several overhead safety barriers. Here at least no need to worry about side-wind.

I never had any contact with some sort of "up-down wind indicator" but I feel that I would have a good use for one. I can DIY but I would like to see some pictures.

We have a very similar situation at our club. Every time I get tricked into shooting when the wind is in my face or behind me coming over the roof I get my lunch handed to me. Therefore I try reeeeeely hard to resist the temptation to shoot in those two particular conditions. I'll admit to being tempted too often especially when the wind lays down but I usually get fooled into a miss.

Some guys at my club use those upsy/downer flags made from red plastic cups but I don't own one ... yet.

What projectiles are you shooting in that L2?

Dave

L2 for up to 75 meters, 50-50 rings and silhouettes, all longer distance rings beyond is for the Impact MK2.
My Leshiy2 so far I was shooting .22x500 but pretty much I can mount all of my Impact liners (6) what I have in 600 and 700 lengths.
Last year I tried at least 15 Brands pellets all .22 weights from 15 to 25 grain and settled with MRD's out of a FX 600 STX-A liner. I have never shot slugs with L2 and not planning to.
The blue knob :) is a lock on the gimbal.

Needless to say I don't like bipods. ;)

I used to race sail boats. We would put strings of yarn on the main sail and the jib sail to give us an indication of what the wind was doing at any given time. If the yarn was blowing up, we would change course up wind until the yarn dropped to be horizonal with the sails. If the yarn dropped down we would sail off wind until the yarn again became horizonal with the sails. I thought maybe if you were to tie a piece yarn to a wooden dowel rod an stick it in the ground about five yards in front of where you are shooting. It might help you see what the wind was doing when you are ready to shoot.
