How to speed load a Cricket magazine

Pictorial of how to speed load a .22 Cricket 14 shot magazine. This is very similar to the video series that Tom @tominco did for the Wildcat for Speed Silo. Only two mags are needed for the Cricket vice three for the Wildcat. I’ve gotten as few as 8 and as many as all 14 with this method. The key is the number of pellets and the “dump then swirl” technique. A quick dump on top the two mags and then a quick swirl. Dump and swirl should take less than 5 seconds. I’ve gotten as many as 14 in one and 13 in the other on my initial D&S. Then just pop in the remaining and push them down with both hands. If you get lucky you can load two mags in ten seconds. And remember, the more you practice the luckier you get... ;) Also, Thanks Sylvan for showing me this technique at EBR last year!

That’s way too slow... you’lll never make the EBR finals like that. :) The key is getting the tops of the mags level with the foam and then the dump and swirl. Try it, you’ll be amazed. When I shot the Sportsman finals at EBR last year I got 14 and 13 on D&S, and had two mags filled and one loaded in the gun in ten seconds. Unfortunately I shot the pigs in the lane to the left of me and DQ’d. If I had shot my own targets I’m 95% sure I would have won. But hey, crap happens... ;(

Haha, now that's funny Mike. Shooting the pigs in the wrong lane? LOL

I did something similar at a Field Target match. I shot the squirrel in the wrong lane just a few seconds before the shooter of that lane was about to pull his trigger. I realized what I did as soon as I heard him holler! We laughed about that the rest of the match!

Ha! Yeah, I felt like an idiot for a while. And the guy whose pigs I shot won the tournament. ;( I told him I wanted one of those black personalized Utah Airguns shirts like they were all wearing as payment for helping him win.

My strategy is to shoot the 5 pigs first at 35 yards since they are the easiest and it gets me in a rhythm. Then I shoot the 5 chickens at 25 yards, then the Turkeys at 45 yards, need a mag change after 4 if I haven't missed anything before I shoot the last one, then the 5 rams at 55 yards. With the scope zero'd for 45 yards, I leave it on 8 to 10x, the just shoot the pigs near the bottom of the belly, the chickens near the bottom, the turkeys dead on, and the rams near the top of the back. This way its thoughtless and just reactive, no thinking of hold-over or hold-under, just shoot as fast as you can... In the qualification rounds I didn't miss any...
