How to Make Steel Gong Targets

Here is just a quick and easy target you can make using corner braces from Home Depot. These were just sitting around in a box and since they looked like they were hardened I decided to make a target out of them. These braces will run you $1-3 a pop at Home Depot.

You will need:

x1 12 Guage Corner Braces and it will work most likely to 30 foot pounds @30yrds. I used 18 gauge braces since (right now) I only have a springer that shoots 20 foot pounds and it did not bend the plate.

x2 Arrows

3.5-5ft of String

Once you have gathered the materials, take the string and run it through the holes of the brace.

Next, tie the end piece of the string around the arrow above the fletching and secure it with a knot and tape. Do this on both arrows and with both string end pieces.

Finally, anchor both arrows into the ground so that the arrows are bending inward just a little bit. Now you have a small gong target for your air guns!
Somehow, my NXG did some damage to the plate with steel bbs and dented the plate. My Hatsan springer’s

22 cal pellets splattered on the target and at 20+yrds the plate was not damaged.

These are quite fun and small enough to make a audible riiiiiing when shot at with my springer!

Thanks,

Antoni
