how to design the PCP valve ?

yes , i wanna design a valve for myself . long range shooting is so funny ，but small caliber can not make it , i mean , it;s difficult for .25cal , 
i think , i shall try .30cal ， and more heaver slug , it get better BC 

but before that ， i need a big vavle , i can not buy one .
guys , you know how to design and make one ?

I don't build valves. Seems like it would take alot of tools, knowhow and materials to outdo all the cool work that has already been done. Goodluck post a thread if you succeed!

***EDIT***: DO NOT build this valve using regular plumbing fittings. The metal they are made out of are not good for high pressure air. Sorry I assumed wrongly.

If those fittings are substituted for stainless steel fittings would there be any other problems?

Most pcp valves are are very basic similar to this concept. Just make one with more volume inside.

How long does it take to fix a valve stem? My flashpup has been in the shop for nearly 3 months because of a damaged valve stem. Is that a long time?

If they are waiting for a new stem it might take that long. It takes less than an hour to repair one or make a new one if you have the correct materials and equipment.

I appreciate this is an old thread, but the subject suits what i'm doing at the moment.

I am building a pcp pistol using the crosman trigger frame. I am a little stuck on the firing valve design as I am wanting a big safety factor for the air pressure. I had wondered about using the crosman valve, but that would leave only the threaded section holding back the tank pressure. I am not going to do that now, but Is that thread strong enough for that? Photo shows my concept. I am using 32 mm alu tube with a 3 mm wall.
