How much FPE is your 22 cal producing?

You state .216 .218 range so i will take a stab your talking SLUG shooting ?



My Warp carbine sports a 24" 6 groove no choke HW .22 barrel. Running regulated on @ 2200 psi it tosses Nielsen 23 grain .217's @ 1015 FPS for @ 53 ft-lbs.

My own balanced valve, light hammer and SSG control the HPA use.
 
I have a .22 that’s 70 fpe @100. but it’s just that, .22. Never tried 218 or 219 

I mean I have Taipan 22s but you already know what is, and can be done with them. 
Here’s my beloved Huben that does 35.2gr boat tails (MP / Kamenšek) at 1060 with 300 bar fill and 220 on the working side.

with that hammerless lock time you know shot count is not really a concern (19 I know of, probably twice that)

My EDGun R3 Long with 590mm barrel shoots the .217 NSA 20.2 grain at 1050 FPS for 50 FPE but it shoots better at 985 FPS. Huma Power Plenum and regulator with brass “barbel” hammer weight. Reg set at 140 bar to shoot 1050 and 132 bar to shoot 985. Titanium valve pin by John Hagan. Five shot groups inside an inch at 110 yards. Can easily go to 60 FPE with heavier slugs or RD Monsters but most accurate with the 20.2 grain. BC of 0.075 at 110 yards. 45 shots on a 250 bar fill.

Still havn't seen a need to push past 65fpe. I'm willing to bet you're working up something special? 😁 With all that shooting space you got, I'd probably be working up a Texan 257 or something of the sort. 

My current build is actually a severely detuned 22. But 2 bolts and a different port will triple output. Its receiving a pellet only barrel.
 
For those of you with PCPs in the .216 - .218 range, where are you maxing out on energy? It would be helpful to know the:

  1. Rifle & barrel length
  2. Ammo used for the calculation (incl. diameter)
  3. FPE / FPS
  4. Reg pressure (or indicate unregulated)
  5. Mods (if any)

1. Spa M10 630mm 224 barrel 535mm standard 22 barrel

2. 224: 51gr spitzer and 41gr 22LR rws. 22barrel EuJin 28.4gr pellet

3. 51gr: 102,5FPE 950fps+ 41gr: 97FPE 1035FPS 28.4gr pellet 1100fps 74FPE (could probably make more but dont have any other heavy ammo that fits this barrel) 

4. 200bar not regulated but runned through external regulator usually at 180-190bars

Normal 217 sized barrel difference to 224barrel bore area is less than 10% so you could reach 100FPE even with 217 easily just not really practical since there is no barrels with fast enough twist to stabilize bullets heavy enough to hit that goal without going supersonic so unless you want to upgrade it to firearm barrel you are kinda limited to 70-80FPE of practical usable energy and like on Edosans gun should run with really long barrel to have that with reasonably low pressures.

Agreed, IME about 80 fpe is the max for .22, can you go higher?, for sure but you will lost a lot of air, is much more efficient to go higher cal with that same setup, just changing calibers (barrel and pellet probe on an impact) I get about 120 fpe on .25 (55gn slug) and 150 fpe on .30 with a 66gn slug (and if I add 160bar on the reg I reach 160fpe), that shows that is way more efficient to change calibers, only difference is the transfer port holes. Optimal for .22 is about 50 to 70 fpe (on an impact of course, only test I have done)

Woah that 25cal is impressive and for some reason it seems to be way off from ur 22 and 30cal performance? 22cal 80FPE to 30cal its like 1.92x increase in surface area that equals 153.6FPE at 30cal but according to only that 25 would be at 106FPE or so. Maybe you did run 25cal numbers with different pressure that 22 and 30?
 
@jiikuu I might be wrong, been a while since I shoot .25 55gn, maybe is max out @ 160b (at 1000 fps) ... I might go soon to Wild Goat hunting, I will test good with the .25 (.22 is the one I use the most and test the most, then .30). as soon as I test it, I will publish it with some pics. (been lazy testing lately ... summer time here and too hot).

Anyway the point is that going up in cal is more efficient than stay in the same cal and going up in weight (when you are over the limit) right now in .22 cal I like 30gn in .25 cal I like 44gn and in .30 I like 60gn (or so bit more bit less) if I can shoot all those @ 1.000 fps then I am good and happy! (and I do).
