How much FPE is your 22 cal producing?

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm building a fairly unique web-based power tuning calculator, and I've had the idea of using info like this as reference points in a table when it calculates the energy. There's some good formulas out there on PCP efficiency, but I'm going to publish something that can accept CSV file input, where you can upload 2 or more recorded shot strings for different tunes, and it'll graph them - but more interesting to me is the math associated with both efficiency and max power potential, and coding some knobs / sliders that you can manipulate to visualize predicted power output and shot counts (using the CSV data as historical reference with some clever math).

It'll be a little while before I finish it, but I'll share the link for anyone to use 😎

If its 22cal it must be something new. I only know one 224cal custom that is making those numbers and its 28inch barrel with 4500psi maxing at 155fpe.. Dont think thats possible to achieve with normal 22 airgun barrel and even if it would be that 67gr would need like 217sized barrel with 1:7twist at 1000fps and as far as I know there is nothing like that.

Lou must have misread, im sure hes shooting these in .25. He sent me some.

HI sorry for late reply

NO these are my 22 calibers guns ,

the Air force is not a stock gun , and yes 67 grain slugs ,

OK the airforce has to get this power is , 1000 cc unregulated tank , I am running a special 32 degree angled extreme valve ,I am using a 16mm OD 28 inch unchoked barrel , 1-14 , I am running a 118 gram hammer weight and for 22 caliber I am running a 12 coil 1.6mm spring and a fluted bolt with 1 oring under a modified tophat , I made on my lathe .

I run power wheel on 0 , With twist rate and amount of power gun generates I cant shoot light slugs , remember when I pop my 257 barrel I am shooting 73 gr at 1050 and my 94 gr at 940fps , the gun gets more shots then texan but same trajectory meaning you hold with pressures , now my tank is a 300 bar but gun is a lazer from 3800 to 3250 but with proper holds can be shot down to 2500 psi

Lastly HI Jitco no actually you cant use a 1-7 , it will over spin and destroy a lead slug in flight , I understand you may be thinking of a thick copper jackets slugs for powder burners

here is a pic of mold I got but It is slightly modified from the oem design for my barrel

it is an elvis SLUG

My Pulsar on high power cranks out JSB 18s at 915fps for 34ftlbs. That is more than enough to kill any game in my 60 yard target radius. If I had a longer target rich environment, maybe I would care more about additional power. For me, don't need a 500lb bomb when a hand grenade will do just fine. For larger game, a powder burner will do just fine. Be careful developing air weapons to the point that they equal low end powder burners. The Liberal anti gun folks will want to start regulating them and we can kiss back yard hunting goodbye.

Not knocking what you are doing. For those who have the desire to refine their air rifles to shoot larger game and gain more downrange power, this project is great.!!!!!

I am just paranoid at what the Surrendercrats will try next.

Kral PB with 22" Knight barrel and doing quite a bit of porting to a Troy tune shooting RD monsters at 1075fps for 65FPE. usually shoot 27gr slugs for 55FPE though. Anyone getting that power for under $800...$1000...$1200...$1400...?

Well there is the AF condor, samyang/seneca sumatra and probably others. Power for a reasonable price isnt a new thing. Both these guns have been out for yearssss

If thats Arsenal molds bullet you use its 60grainish what it drops and its not even close to be stable in 1:14

That is firearm stability calculator and Im fairly sure there is an error with subsonic velocities. Sub mach1 requires alot faster twist than mach 2+ flight speeds these calculators are made for so its even more unstable than that number presents.

According to that you would need atleast 1:11 and to be safe 1:10.

I dont get where you have this idea you cant use faster twist. Lead bullets take it well thing where you start to need copper jacket is supersonic speeds not really that much related to twist. Andre from Altaros just shot new world record with air rifle and he used 60gr bt bullet with 1:9twist and that 4500psi custom gun in here uses super fast twist too.

Now to second subject how did you manage to get your 257 intended AF valve work with 217barrel? I know for a fact that 257 texan valve tankdumps if you try to fit such an barrel for it.

Anyhow some impressive numbers no doubt about that I just dont see how you managed to alter laws of physics.

Good point. Pretty sure the Kral is still cheaper and offers a lot more in features but yes, there are others that can put out some incredible power for a good price. There are some pretty serious Marauders out there too.

First off my gun is not a texan with an oem valve , secondly that problem is easily cured with spring rates

Lastly on how the law of PHYSICS didnt relate to my guns ballistics

I think you need to look what you typed in to the JBM program for inputs , however this is not a good program for this .

but if you must use it at least re look at your inputs before saying how I defied the laws of Physics look at what you put in on your inputs .

rule 1 garbage in = garbage out
